Mel-icious Intent

Hollywood is all about power, and if making someone grovel is what it takes to make some feel powerful, that's sad and malicious.

I'm not really sure how many times Mel Gibson will be thrown under the bus. What he said was boneheaded, vile, racist, and the Jewish component of the entertainment industry wants blood. No apology is enough, and forgiveness is out of the question when you are considered an anti-Semite.

When I worked in Hollywood, Jewish people I knew would lose their minds at any inference that the place was run by them. Unfortunately, impressions are best made by what one sees, not believes.

A lot of the people working at almost every level in Hollywood, from TV shows to movies are Jewish. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT?

Using that illogic, one would be considered a racist if they were to say that the National Basketball Association is run by blacks, when at any given time on a basketball court you may see ten black players running up and down the court. Blacks DO dominate the NBA. Is that a bad thing?

But here's the hypocrisy.

Should certain people say certain things about certain other groups, might as well just kill 'em, as “forgive and forget” is out of the question. But those rules are suspended for others. If Mel Gibson went off on Christians, would there be this much uproar?

It all depends on who's talking . . .

"Who is this 'Emily List?'  She's supportin' all these people. She's supportin' Senator Dianne Feinstein. She's supported Senator Barbara Boxer . . . She supported everybody. Why won't she support me?"
– Hillary Clinton, in her best black accent mocking San Francisco mayor Willie Brown

"Some junior high nigger kicked Steve's ass while he was trying to help his brothers out; junior high or sophomore in high school. Whatever it was, Steve had the nigger down. However it was, it was Steve's fault. He had the nigger down, he let him up. The nigger blindsided him."
– Roger Clinton, the President's brother on audiotape

"You'd find these potentates from down in Africa, you know, rather than eating each other, they'd just come up and get a good square meal in Geneva."
– Senator Fritz Hollings (D, S.C.)

"Is you their black-haired answer-mammy who be smart? Does they like how you shine their shoes, Condoleezza? Or the way you wash and park the whitey's cars?”
– Song from the show of left-wing radio host Neil Rogers

“Blacks and Hispanics are 'too busy eating watermelons and tacos' to learn how to read and write.”
– Mike Wallace, CBS News

"In the days of slavery, there were those slaves who lived on the plantation and [there] were those slaves that lived in the house. You got the privilege of living in the house if you served the master . . . exactly the way the master intended to have you serve him. Colin Powell's committed to come into the house of the master. When Colin Powell dares to suggest something other than what the master wants to hear, he will be turned back out to pasture."
– Harry Belafonte

"Republicans bring out Colin Powell and J.C. Watts because they have no program, no policy. They have no love and no joy. They'd rather take pictures with black children than feed them."
– Donna Brazile, Al Gore's Campaign Manager for the 2000 election

"A handkerchief-head, chicken-and-biscuit-eating Uncle Tom.”
– Spike Lee on Clarence Thomas

"He's married to a white woman. He wants to be white. He wants a colorless society. He has no ethnic pride. He doesn't want to be black."
– California State Senator Diane Watson on Ward Connerly's interracial marriage

"Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds."
– Former Klansman and senior US Senator Robert Byrd, the "conscience of the Senate"

Before I continue, remember, some of these people are still working today….

"You f***ing Jew bastard."
– Hillary Clinton to political operative Paul Fray. This was revealed in State of a Union: Inside the Complex Marriage of Bill and Hillary Clinton and has been verified by Paul Fray and three witnesses.

"The Jews don't like Farrakhan, so they call me Hitler. Well, that's a good name. Hitler was a very great man. He rose Germany up from the ashes."
– Louis Farrakhan (1984) who campaigned for congresswoman Cynthia McKinney in 2002

“Hymies.”  “Hymietown.”
– Jesse Jackson's description of New York City while on the 1984 presidential campaign trail.

"Jews — that's J-E-W-S."
– Democrat state representative Bill McKinney on why his daughter Cynthia lost in 2002

"I want to go up to the closest white person and say: 'You can't understand this, it's a black thing' and then slap him, just for my mental health."
– Charles Barron, a New York city councilman at a reparations rally, 2002

"Civil rights laws were not passed to protect the rights of white men and do not apply to them."
– Mary Frances Berry, Chairwoman, US Commission on Civil Rights

"I will not let the white boys win in this election."
– Donna Brazile, Al Gore's Campaign Manager on the 2000 election

"The old white boys got taken fair and square."
– San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown after winning an election

"There are white niggers. I've seen a lot of white niggers in my time."
– Senator Robert Byrd, on a Fox News Sunday interview in March of 2001

"The Medicaid system must have been developed by a white male slave owner. It pays for you to be pregnant and have a baby, but it won't pay for much family planning."
– Jocelyn Elders

"There's no great, white bigot; there's just about 200 million little white bigots out there."
– Columnist Julienne Malveaux

"White folks was in caves while we was building empires . . . We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it."
– Rev. Al Sharpton in a 1994 speech at Kean College

"The white race is the cancer of human history."
– Susan Sontag, author

"Reparations are a really good way for white people to admit they're wrong."
– Zack Webb, University Of Kentucky NAACP

The problem is that Mel Gibson hasn't bought any kneepads.

If he spends the next few weeks on his hands and knees begging forgiveness, and basically allows himself to be humiliated, some may cut him a wee bit of slack.

But there are bigots everywhere. There are bigots in every community, amongst every ethnic group, and if you think your group is special, you're a dope.

Mel's got enough money he could give the middle finger to Hollywood Jews and live comfortably for the rest of his life. He didn't have to apologize, over and over and over.

Hollywood is all about power, and if making someone grovel is what it takes to make some feel powerful, that's sad, malicious, and all involved had better watch what comes out of their mouths in the future. Those not willing to forgive may not be easily forgiven either.

And at that point, the anit-Semitism line won't work either.

  1. Mr. Gibson's unfortunate remarks serve as the Left's red herring. The real issue below the veneer of outrage is nothing more than thinly veiled Christian-bashing. Gibson outraged Hollywood by his success with "The Passion". They are doing what The Left always does. Wait for a mistake and add fuel to a perceived fire. Mel Gibsom has apologized, humbled himself, and is, in the Spirit of his Faith, trying to make reparation. I'm still waiting for apologies from Bill Clinton, Madonna, Ward Churchill, Howard Dean, John Murtha, and a sundry and desolatory list of many others. Conservatives know they are sinners needing forgiveness. Liberals don't think there's anything wrong with doing whatever they want because there's no one to account to. I've heard, at the hour-of-death, a certtain spirit does the same to poor souls. Bring to mind a soul's failings so it despairs. Liberals do the same.

  2. Judaism is a religion that emphasizes forgiveness for the repentant. When
you look at those adherents of Judaism who can accept Gibson's apology and
forgive, while looking at those who do want his blood, or a pound of his flesh,
for the sake of argument, you can tell how one unguarded remark separates
the real mensches from the shlemiels. Those who would not forgive Gibson,
but excuse the likes of Ted Kennedy have a lot of chutzpah, and their conduct is
    a shandah.

  3. Joe, Joe, Joe……you truly are a blinded, religious, right-wing nut (at least this is what your many responses on this site reveal).

    You said….

"They are doing what The Left always does. Wait for a mistake and add fuel to a perceived fire. "……..how little you know and understand about the left and liberals. Sure, some people(from both sides of the fence) engage in this type of response. However, what you are MISinterpreting is this: attempts to reveal the absolute hypocrisy of the modern conservative. Conservatives tout themselves as the party of "morals" when their actions are not even close to being moral. This is the very definition of hypocrisy.

"Conservatives know they are sinners needing forgiveness."……so this gives them the right to do whatever they want because all they have to do is ask for forgiveness and everything is all better? Your religious beliefs DO NOT give you license to engage in less than appropriate behavior, then ask to be "forgiven" later on….when you are caught or confronted……..oh wait……that's basically what Constantine, the man that "created" the bible, did when he was baptized posthumously, so I guess that IS how it was intended to be used.

"Liberals don’t think there’s anything wrong with doing whatever they want because there’s no one to account to."………once again, nice way to generalize Joe. You constantly reveal your uneducated, ignorant view of anything liberal. You truly must hate Jesus since he was as Liberal as a person gets.
Most Liberals (at least the ones I know) believe that it is your right to believe in anything you want. They believe that you should be able to act anyway you want, within the rules of LAW. They also believe, first and foremost, that the rule of law should not be based on any one specific belief system…..for that would be discriminatory.

"I’ve heard, at the hour-of-death, a certtain spirit does the same to poor souls." From who Joe? The ones that have gone through the "hour-of-death"? You can speak to the dead, just like a character out of an M.Night movie? Wouldn't that be considered mysticism and an abomination by your religion?

Seeker: I agree that this is what it says in the Bible (I have little experience with the Torah) (Editor's Note:  The Torah is the first 5 books of the Bible.) but don't you realize that the majority of right wing religious zealots only "pick and choose" what they use from the Bible. You see, most of them concentrate on the parts of the Old Testament that speak of homosexuality as an abomination and ignore the parts that speak of killing children, sacrifices, and shellfish as an abomination. They also ignore the fact that there is no place in the New Testament that speaks against homosexuality.

Also, I hope you realize that the two largest religions in the world,Christianity and Islam, are responsible for the MURDER of millions over the centuries so be careful of calling certain religions "religions of terror".

As for Mel and his debacle……the only ones he owes an apology to (if anyone at all) are the ones who may have been offended. I could care less. If he is an Anti-Semite then he is ignorant. If he was just plastered, then he is ignorant for driving. Either way it was just a bonehead move. I've pulled them, everyone has pulled them. Let it go…there are more important issues at hand.

  4. What kind of “conservative” are you, Joe? The “Log Cabin” variety? Perhaps you would do us the favor of elucidating a single idea so we can be edified by your eminent intellect? I suspect your conservative credentials may be a bit lacking. Sniping is the easy part. Man up and show you can actually formulate a coherent, rational argument. State your conservative values instead of blaming others. You play a great Blame-game. But, you do not expect a guy like Gibson to take personal responsibilty. So your conservative values are:
    1. Driving drunk
    2. Threatening brave police
    3. Speeding
    4. Blame-gaming

If that is the case, come out of the closet and embrace Barney Frank. We don’t need another David Brock unsure of his identity lurking around in drag…. Spew conservative values Joe.

  5. You know, John, I think you might be a Joseph-Biden-conservative cause I think I remember reading your post somewhere before. I mean, brilliant writer, but I just can't seem to place the name. If imitation is the most sincerest form of flattery, I want you to know I am as red as your ass gets when taken to the rhetorical woodshed, son. Now, to the point, Mel made a mistake for all of the reasons you duly noted. However, it pales in comparison to what others have done and continue to do unrepentant. One more thing, John, I have a course I could sell you to post well. Unfortunately, Ahmdo and The Paradise Virgins Gang confiscated it and used it to start a fire to heat the edges of paperclips and shoot them at unsuspecting zionists and their 'retarded christian jew worshippers "when exiting delicatessans after lunch…

  6. Joe… When you blame game you do what liberals do. When you do not uphold real conservative values, but hide behind " it pales in comparison to what others have done and continue to do unrepentant," you destroy conservative values. Make a stand. Stand up for what you believe in. Do not ba,me game. When you do you destroy the values you say you uphold. Are you really Red? I just do not understand how you can say you are red and then defend a guy who clearly does NOT uhold red values. I have to question your sincerity and you beliefs.

  7. The thing that amazes me is the number of people who think alcohol is a truth serum. I spent twenty years going to bars and parties. I’ve seen people who were total strangers who said they loved each other and fifteen minutes were in a fist fight. I’ve also met total strangers who hated each other and fifteen minutes later share the last beer from the keg out of one glass. I don’t know what alcohol does to the brain. But I’ve never seen it generate truthful dialog.

Additionally, any of you jokers attempting to defend or deflect the vile nature of these remarks should be genuinele abhorrent of yourselves.

  9. Alcohol might affect your judgment, frustration tolerance, and impulsiveness, but it doesn't lead to transient beliefs in age-old prejudices against the Jews. He's a bigot, the alcohol just made it harder for him to hide it. When his career falls to guest appearances on reality shows next to O.J. Simpson, he'll realize the cost of his words. It's a free country, say and believe what you want, just accept the consequences…I won't ever see a Gibson movie again, and will be leary of any producers/directors who think he's worthy of drawing an audience.
