Mel Gibson and Why Jewish Liberals Give Jews a Bad Name

Mel Gibson is an important Catholic because as a successful actor-director-producer and as a very public Catholic he is in the cross-hairs of the liberals.

As an observant Jew, whose wife and children were born in the Holy Land, and as one who maintains a residence in Israel (in fact in the West Bank), I would be what the New York Times refers to as an ultra-orthodox Jewish settler. I am not a Zionist, although I certainly advocate a Jewish national existence in Israel. I reject the socialist-statist ideology of the secular Zionists and the messianic character of religious Zionists. The Messiah will arrive when he arrives; until then the Jews in the Holy Land must live as a People secure in their borders. No apologies. Thus, I know the Jewish claim to the Holy Land to be divine and absolute, and that the Jewish People are obligated to form a national existence and political order to ensure the survival of the Jewish People living there. If that hastens the Redemption, so be it. If not, so be it.

Having said that, let me also say that I was born, raised and educated in America, maintain my principal residence in America and I know, as an American, that America is the most divinely blessed nation-state on the planet and the reason for that is the fact that Christian America, with all of its warts and imperfections, has been the most righteous and productive people to have founded a country in the modern era. There isn’t even a close second.

I also know the West is in trouble, and that includes America. America in particular is in trouble because having effectively rejected its Christian roots, the Constitution and federalism, and having embraced democracy and the multi-cultural Open Society, it is incapable of adequately defending national existence, defeating Islam, and overcoming the World State ideology of the Liberal Elites.

I make these personal, autobiographical observations only to provide a full disclosure to what follows.

Mel Gibson is an important Catholic because as a successful actor-director-producer and as a very public Catholic he is in the cross-hairs of the liberals, and especially the liberal Jews such as the ones running the Anti-Defamation League. His film, The Passion, which I have not seen (only because movie-viewing is an inordinate waste of valuable time), was generally viewed by Jewish liberals as anti-Semitic. A few vocal Orthodox Jews, like Don Feder, came out in support of Gibson at the time. In the past few days, everyone has jumped on the anti-Gibson bandwagon. The list includes the typical cast of liberals and anti-Catholic conservatives, from the ADL’s Abraham Foxman to pundit Christopher Hitchens. It even includes former hardcore conservative Jewish supporters of Gibson like Feder. I, for one (quite possibly literally the only one – and certainly the only Jew), reject this Catholic bashing in the name of the anti-anti-Semites.

The reason is quite simple. Men like Gibson and Pat Buchanan, as conservative Catholics, have the potential to save the West from itself and from Islam. It will require other Christians of good faith, to be sure, and it will even require the oddball Jew (like Feder and yours truly). The fact that conservative Catholics have a deep distrust of Jews due to the undeniable Jewish liberal influence on western affairs in the direction of a World State is hardly surprising, irrational, or easily condemned as Jew hatred. But even if there is some dark side to what could be a very rational view of the Jewish liberal establishment, that in and of itself is no reason to condemn otherwise good American patriots, especially given the threat we in the West face.

Let’s take the Gibson case. Here is a man who has said publicly that he is not a Jew-hater. The evidence amassed against him amounts to very little: (a) his father is a Holocaust denier; (b) he won’t disavow his father’s views publicly although he has never publicly embraced them; (c) he refused to make substantive changes to his film The Passion to satisfy the liberal Jewish establishment; (d) in a drunken rage while being arrested he made strong anti-Jewish remarks: and (e) in his generic apology for the despicable things he said, he never specifically rejected the remarks about Jews or specifically apologized to Jews as a whole.

Much can be said on these points, but let’s assume that Gibson looks out into the world and sees liberal Jews taking the social and political lead in all forms of World State ideologies and moral abominations. This includes the “conservative secular Jews” leading the campaign for a worldwide secular “democracy-building” as a kind of liberal universal antidote to Islam — even though they refuse to name it Islam, but rather “terror” or “Islamism” or “extremist Islam” (or as Newt Gingrich, not a Jew but aligned theoretically with this crowd, terms it, “the irreconcilable wing of Islam,” as if there is a whole wing of reconciled Islam). That Gibson sees Jews in an unfavorable light is only irrational if one wishes to make the argument that secular liberal Jews are not in fact the leading proponents of all forms of anti-Western, anti-American, anti-Christian movements, campaigns, and ideologies. To effectively make this argument one would have to be literally divorced from reality.

But that is exactly where we are – divorced from reality and from the reality of national existence. In our current environment, PC rules because truth in speech and integrity of thought is now devoid of any moral content. Democracy demands a universal methodology that refuses to give any credence to the truth of existence.

In the Gibson affair, we have it in spades. All one needs to do is look at two press releases issued by the ADL on July 28 and 30, respectively. Recall that the ADL’s main reason for existence is to root out and uncover anti-Semitism. So it is, when Mel Gibson gets drunk and decides to take a drive (that is what the ADL should have been angry about) and during the arrest angrily complains that Jews are involved in, or are the cause of, wars worldwide (even though there are no Jews in sight), and then issues a typical Hollywood-style apology to everyone but to no one for his bad behavior, the ADL is there to express the disgust of American Jewish liberalism. Whatever deep, dark secrets one wants to read into statements made in this drunken rage, especially if one is looking for anti-Semitism, the ADL knew when it had a real dangerous sort on the ropes when it released the following statement:

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) said actor and director Mel Gibson's apology for hurling anti-Semitic invective at a police officer during his arrest for driving under the influence was "unremorseful and insufficient" and said his tirade "finally reveals his true self." According to reports, Gibson yelled epithets at the arresting officer, asked him if he was Jewish and stated that "the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world."

In a statement yesterday, Gibson apologized for saying "despicable things" that he "does not believe to be true."

Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, issued the following statement: Mel Gibson's apology is unremorseful and insufficient. It's not a proper apology because it does not go to the essence of his bigotry and his anti-Semitism.

His tirade finally reveals his true self and shows that his protestations during the debate over his film The Passion of the Christ, that he is such a tolerant, loving person, were a sham. It may well be that the bigotry has been passed from the father to the son. It is unfortunate that it took an excess of booze and an encounter with a traffic cop to reveal what was really in his heart and mind.

We would hope that Hollywood now would realize the bigot in their midst and that they will distance themselves from this anti-Semite.

Wow! “[H]is true self.” Foxman is quite the Sigmund Freud. And, all of this for a Hollywood actor who has never raised a hand to a Jew, never publicly, at least not while sober, said anything negative about Jews, and never called for violence against Jews. But, truth be told, he is a conservative Catholic who dared stand up to the Jewish liberals of the ADL and make a movie that told a version of Catholic history central to its theology that was not watered down for public PC consumption. At worst, it put Jews of the time in a bad light if you are a believing Catholic. If you are a Jew, you could care less because you know we Jews have our own understanding of this Jewish son who either went astray or led others to do so. Whatever the outcome of these theological and historical differences, neither Gibson nor his movie called for the murder or injury of Jews, which you might have thought was the case had you heard the liberal Jewish establishment at the time, led by the ADL, when it came out in full force against the movie. All of this when the worldwide Islamic leadership likens Jews to Satan, pigs, and dogs and calls for their death and destruction every day.

And more to the point, when a Muslim from Pakistan shoots Jewish women, killing one, in a rampage he himself proclaims was directly related to his hate of Israel and the Jewish people and that he was aroused to murderous action by the war in Lebanon, the ADL issues a press release which reads as follows:

The shooting attack at the Seattle Jewish Federation was a terrible tragedy and points up the need for security awareness, especially at a time when there is a crisis in the Middle East, with Israel as a focal point. However, the Jewish community in Seattle was not advised of any specific threat from law enforcement. We applaud the Seattle Police Department for their quick response and apprehension of the alleged shooter.

According to this ADL statement, this murderous anti-Jewish attack was in fact not that but a terrible tragedy, akin to a car accident, with no assailant. And, certainly no Muslim one. I don’t know how you see it, but there seems to be a “proportionality” issue here. Completely sanitized of the Islamic animus that drove this Muslim to murder and injure innocent Jewish women, this press release, I suggest, illustrates Foxman’s “true self.” Foxman and the ADL have made it their life’s work to “represent US Jewry” by fiat and to call every conservative Christian who stands up for Christian values an anti-Semite. So it is that the ADL comes to the defense of abortionists and homosexuals (and the homosexual efforts to undermine the institution of marriage), all in the name of anti-anti-Semitism. It is amazing how much the ADL fits under that tent.

But in further juxtaposition to the sanitized ADL press release on the rampaging Jew-hating and Jew-murdering Muslim in Seattle, in which the ADL sees no Jew hatred only anonymous tragedy, we examine yet another of Foxman’s self-aggrandizing press releases. When it came time to praise the multi-life sentence of Eric Robert Rudolf, the convicted abortion clinic bomber, the ADL was clear how to connect the ideological dots:

Rudolph was a follower of Christian Identity, an anti-Semitic and racist religious ideology popular in extreme right-wing circles. Although he never joined the ranks of an extremist group, in the days following his arrest in May 2003 extremists praised Rudolph on the Internet as "a hero." At that time, some extremists even called for further acts of violence to be modeled after the bombings Rudolph has now acknowledged committing.

But all of this duplicity and hypocrisy only goes to say that liberal, secular Jews, represented in large part by the likes of the ADL, do indeed deserve Gibson’s opprobrium. That he incorrectly holds Judaism and all Jews accountable for Jewish Liberalism illustrates that he suffers from the same deficiency, only its flip side, as the conservatives who refuse to hold Islam accountable. While Judaism as a religion has no inclination to occupy more than Biblical Israel, resists conversions, and has no desire to rule the non-Jewish world in the here and now, Islam stands for precisely the opposite set of propositions. Islam as a matter of religious creed, theology, and law, has from its inception (at least from the second phase of its inception in what is often referred to as the Islam of Medina, and the one that has dominated theologically ever since) viewed the world state Islamic Caliphate as central to the fulfillment of its prophet’s message. And this world state is not merely eschatological but brought to completion in the here and now through persuasion, submission, or death of the infidels. While individual Muslims might reject this dogma and religious jurisprudence, all that means is that they are not “observant” or “faithful” Muslims. That also explains why among the 1.3 billion Muslims worldwide, including those who live and prosper in the West, there is no institutional or even grassroots movement to reject the religious leadership of the Arab and Persian Islamic centers which promote jihad. While there are individuals and specific organizations that speak of an Islam of Peace as a rejection of Islam proper, these voices are peeps in the wilderness.

Thus, on the one hand, we have liberals and secular conservatives who refuse to hold Islam, as an ideology, responsible for the murder and mayhem Islam preaches and which its adherents carry out daily, and on the other hand we have some conservative Catholics who perceive something uniquely Jewish in the fact that Jewish liberals are so prominent in the liberal forces seeking the destruction of national existence and the West. If I had to choose, I’d much rather align myself with American patriots, even if they had a bad and incorrect understanding of Judaism from what they correctly understand to be the prominent spokesmen of Judaism in the West – the liberal Jewish leaders.

But, the real problem with many of these same conservative Catholics is that they are just as blind to the threat of Islam (i.e., Buchanan) as the liberals. Statements from the lay and religious leadership call for diplomacy, international solutions, “dialogue,” and a search for the root causes of generic terror as if Islam and its terrorists are victims of an exploitive West, imperialism, capitalism, and decadence. Aside from the fact that this view of Islamic terror ignores Mohammed’s teachings and war-like ways long before the West was guilty of its purportedly exploitive ways, these Catholics have joined hands with the radical Leftist elites — led by the liberal Jews like Kenneth Roth of the Human Rights Watch — in a kind of blinded perverse syncretism all in an effort to ignore, or worse, to whitewash, the real threat from Islam.

When American patriots of all stripes come to the understanding that our common foes are Islam and the multi-cultural Open Society of the ACLU and the ADL, we will stand a fighting chance to preserve this nation, national existence, and the West. Let’s agree to disagree on the historical and eschatological matters that separate us and win the real war against Islam and Liberalism, including the secularized Jewish, Catholic and Christian versions.

NB: And, if all of this wasn’t enough, just in is the fact that Gibson issued a specific apology for his “anti-Semitic” remarks, denouncing anti-Semitism and bigotry. But instead of recognizing that Gibson has acted quite responsibly, appropriately, and very much the mentch (Yiddish for decent man) since his drunken tirade, Foxman has decided to exact his Shakespearean pound of flesh in a despicable, condescending statement moments later:

This is the apology we had sought and requested.  We are glad that Mel Gibson has finally owned up to the fact that he made anti-Semitic remarks, and his apology sounds sincere.  We welcome his efforts to repair the damage he has caused, to reach out to the Jewish community, and to seek help.

Once he completes his rehabilitation for alcohol abuse, we will be ready and willing to help him with his second rehabilitation to combat this disease of prejudice.

Abe Foxman, your behavior, and your speech amounts to no more than that, is transparent! As far as I am concerned, you don’t represent Jews or Judaism. Your quest to combat anti-Semitism is just a way for another liberal Jew to grab the national spotlight as a spokesman for Jews to effect the Liberal Elite agenda wrapped in a pseudo-moral context. If anyone suffers from a prejudice and bigotry, you most certainly do. You so thoroughly hate seriously religious Christians, you will ignore the Jew hatred of Muslims who murder Jews and attempt to tear down a man who dares express his Christian faith with conviction.

  • Gibson is not a Catholic. He belongs to an ex-communicated group, and therefore, is an ex-communicate.

  • John Wright

So let me get this straight. Mel Gibson is an important Catholic. As a Conservative Catholic, I reject Mel’s actions that you choose to ignore:
    1. Mel drove drunk
    2. Mel threatened our brave police
    3. Mel drove to excessive dangerous speeds

Mel Gibson put everyone on that highway in mortal danger by operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol at a very dangerous speed. NONE of this is uttered by this article. What makes Mel so important a Catholic and his actions so un-Catholic that he needs to be defended? I believe in personal responsibility. I am a conservative Catholic. Mel’s actions are neither Catholic nor conservative in value. Why such defense for a man who clearly does not represent anything that is Catholic or conservative?????

Instead of writing incoherent and racist comments on several threads I think your time might be
better spent ordering Hooked on Phonics and a dictionary.

Gibson attends a Traditional Latin-Rite Mass. JPII encouraged liberal (adjective, not the noun) application of his encyclical encouraging The Latin Mass. Benedict XVI would like to “reform the reform” that followed the infernal spirit of Vatican II by bringing back a universal latin mass that would discourage liberals from continue doing to the Liturgy what the liberals try to do to the Constitution. Gibson gave us “The Passion”. He showed Hollywood that piety in film does quite well. Hollywood has been the heavy lifter for The Cultural War against conservative catholic values. Why the animosity towards a sinner who has repented?

Many thanks to the editor for squashing some inflamatory comments posted by an ignorant individual [Paradise Virgins] with poor command of written english.

To that individual I ask that you take your baseless, racist, and illogical arguments someplace else. There are plenty of websites out there which share your narrow worldviews.

Otherwise, I suggest you learn the language of this website and learn it well. Then do some honest research on American social, political, and economic issues beyond what you might hear on Al-Jazeera, CNN, or The Daily Show. Come back when you would like to have a serious, rational debate on any such topic. I for one would relish the opportunity to do so with the likes of you.

Either way, your comments are neither entertaining nor thought-provoking. You are only exposing yourself as a fool.

  • To John Wright (and to some extent rightwingprof):

As to the critique of Gibson’s moral judgement relative to his drinking and
and driving under the influence, I in fact said as much: “So it is, when Mel Gibson gets
drunk and decides to take a drive (that is what the ADL should have
    been angry about) …”

As to Gibson’s Catholic bonafides, while I did describe him as an important
Catholic, I was doing so more as to what he represents to the outside world.
I am no expert on Catholic matters of this sort, so I will leave it for Catholics
to make this analysis. Rather, my point was clearly to juxtapose the criticism
of conservative Christians, be they Catholic, Evangelical, or other, with the criticism
of Islam and Muslims by liberals, and especially the American liberal Jewish
“leadership.” Let’s just say Gibson was a good foil.

In this regard, I will simply say it is an important matter to read carefully.
Again, I quote from the beginning of the Gibson portion of my essay:
“Mel Gibson is an important Catholic because as a successful
actor-director-producer and as a very public Catholic he is in the
cross-hairs of the liberals, and especially the liberal Jews such as
the ones running the Anti-Defamation League.”

  • Lane Russell

Many have commented that no one seems to be concerned that Mel Gibson
broke the laws of this country by driving drunk. This is particularly noteworthy,
as I’ve always felt that drunk driving is tantamount to attempted murder. So why
is Gibson’s alleged anti-Semitism even an issue? Granted, his remarks upon his
arrest were themselves anti-Semitic, but it’s not as if he’s marched in a Hezbollah
parade, suicide-bombed a deli, or made a movie about the moral equivalence
of murdering Israeli athletes to exacting retribution on the murderers.
Gibson’s remarks are seen as more embarassing because the people who
criticized “The Passion of the Christ” as anti-Semitic (despite the fact that
ALL of the good guys were Jews, and half the bad guys only HAPPENED
to be Jews–the ones who drove the nails were ROMAN) feel themselves
vindicated; instead of vague, shadowy allegations stemming from the
sins of the father (which, it is written in the Tanakh, that the son shall not
be put to death for the sins of the father), they now have a concrete incident
    at which to point.
The point here isn’t anti-Semitism at all. The point is that Gibson made “The
Passion” to highlight the enormity of Christ’s sacrifice, and this made people
uncomfortable, because the necessity of the sacrifice rests upon man’s
capacity for sin. The critics of the film are uncomfortable with the idea of
sin, and so they say, “Why could the film not focus on the ‘message’and
‘hope’ of His life,” because they’d rather hear about the Golden Rule than
about “Go, and SIN NO MORE (emphasis mine).” This is the real reason
    that the film was criticized.
Now, concerning Gibson’s egregious misconduct, I would say upon re-examination
of the facts of the case, prompted by the many comments on this website, that
blaming Jews in a drunken fit for all the wars in the world is less serious
than driving drunk, and this is what Gibson should be criticized for, by all sides.
Thank you for your kind attention.

David… When you juxtapose you are doing EXACTLY what the liberals do. You are playing the blame game. Instead of taking this guy to task for some clearly non-Catholic practices you juxtapose & defend this guy. Instead of standing up for conservative values you blame game just like a liberal. Our conservative values die when we do not uphold them. Whether it is a liberal or a pseudo-Catholic-pseudo-Conservative like Gibson, whenever someone defiles our values we must not defend the individual, we must defend the conservative value.

  • David,
I am a non-practicing ethnic Jewish man with an Italian name and as a consequence have seen and heard real anti-Semitism; people commonly presume I am a Catholic, so they tend not to guard against their anti-Semitism around me. The worst anti-Semites I have met have been poor Blacks, poor Southerners, old Catholics and most wealthy people in Connecticut. From what I have seen in the media, Mel ain’t an anti-Semite. Sure he’s a drunk with a big mouth, but that is not the same as an anti-Semite. I also have family in the film business. So from my own experience, in the movie world, the word “Jew” has taken on the bizarre meaning of “liberal fundamentalist.” And that is likely who Mel was referring to.

  • L.L.M.

Being a drunk and being a Catholic is not one in correlation with the other. So, a null point, but a lot of hot air.

  • Ted

Progressive Jews give Jews a bad name, just like progressive Catholics give Catholics a bad name, and progressive protestants give protestants a bad name.

  • L.L.M.

Just wondering what has being Catholic to do with this story at all?! Why no one alleges that all drunks and or all speeders are anti-Semites, since Gibson’s first offense in this story is being drunk driving. By this line of reasoning, why are not people with the first name Mel and last name Gibson suspects? Why not his being Australian, being a movie actor, from Hollywood, deep pockets, land owner… Get it? Such slippery slope nonsense.

  • John Wright

Hey Ted… What do drunk driving to excessive speeds, cop treatening pseudo-conservative actors do for our beliefs? That is my point. If we really believe in conservative values, how can we possible defend those who act contrary to our beliefs?

  • Steve Willmot

Unconfirmed reports: Police video shows that officer provoked Gibson’s tirade by attacking “The Passion.” Arresting officer has had multiple prior disciplinary reports that he “can’t get along with peers.” Gibson’s Blood alcohol content was not off the scale but slightly above legal limit. Were it not for his rant, he might not have been given a field sobriety test.

Of course, none of this excuses Gibson’s behavior or his words. But it does seem to confirm Gibson’s being “in the crosshairs.” The liberal media can’t resist lynching an apparent hippocrit.

  • Mark Conte

Wow. Were you picking up for Mel Gibson? Fooled me. Has anyone done anything about all those movies making Italians look like gangsters. Can we make the words wop, dago and spagetti bender as indictable as Mockie? As Christianity sweeps around the world changing the way everyone lives, all Jews still consider Jesus a misguided Jew. Is it because he said all people of the world would go to heaven and you still consider Jews the chosen ones, envisioning slamming heaven’s door in the faces of all other nationalities? Are Jews the new master race? Will the words anti semite be the new communism in America? Will the mere accusation of being an antit semite cause people to lose their jobs, their friends and be cast out of the country like in the 50s? My mother, who was a devout Catholic taught me to respect all religions. She said when God appeared, he would not look the same to an African tribe as he did to the Jewish tribes as they were when the bible was written, or to Mongolian nomads. In the bible, the people try to build a tower to heaven, which at the time they thought was in the sky above us. Since we now know that there is a whole universe out there, (not up there), where do you think heavens is and do you believe only you and the Jews will be there? I just wish everyone of all faiths would grow up.

This is probably the most interesting and diverse set of responses I’ve ever read. The thing I find interesting is that so many of you expect perfection in this man. He must be a perfect Catholic, or a perfect Christian, or a perfect conservative, or a perfect man of influence.

It appears that most of you don’t want to admit that all people are flawed humans. Each and every one of us has more than one problem. One of Mr. Gibson’s problems appears to be drink. He who is without sin cast the first stone.

Alcohol is not a truth serum. Alcohol makes people say and do stupid things. Should he be charge with driving under the influence? Probably. Should he be taken to task for it over and over again? Probably not. Two or three times is probably enough when it’s broadcast world wide.

In regard to the idea that the officer provoking Mr. Gibson; again, give Mr Gibson his right to act stupidly, get mad, and mouth off. But I can see by your comments that some of you have never gotten angry and said something stupid. Gee, I wish I was as good and as holy as you are.

As for the comments that he is not a Catholic, not a conservative, not a conservative Christian, and doesn’t uphold conservative values I say; Judge not least you be judged. For the way in which you judge another you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured unto you.

Play the “what if” game in your own minds.
What if your version of Catholicism is wrong? How will Jesus judge you?
What if your version of Christianity is wrong? Now will Jesus judge you?
What if your version of Judaism is wrong? How will G-d judge you?
What if your version of conservative is wrong? How would Ronald Reagan judge you?

By every standard I know Mr Gibson made mistakes. He said and did things that were wrong. Get over it.

Mr. Yerushalmi; my compliments sir on a good article.

  • C. D. Rossini, Jr.

    To Mr. Gibson’s predicament:

Why is the mainstream press piling on this guy? Are we shocked, SHOCKED that Mr. Gibson was drunk in public and embarrassed himself by mouthing off? (The drunk driving is another matter.)

After all, this is a common tale. Remember, it goes like this:

Hollywood (pick one: writer, actor, director, producer)
was arrested for (pick one: drunk driving, possession of cocaine, position of marijuana, position of heroin, assault and battery, soliciting)
and was (pick one: unconscious, belligerent, incoherent, ranting) at the scene.

His (agent, daughter, significant other, director, lawyer)
issued a (public apology, denial, check for damages, no lo plea).

The public figure then (checked into rehab, met with his attorney, had a press conference, returned to the set).

  • Neil W.

If you put any group of people together – including Jews – you will hear vile things about other groups when they think others aren’t listening. It is human nature. If Mel Gibson doesn’t like Jews he is entitled. We don’t (yet) live in a country where people can be arrested for disliking someone, but I see that coming. In my opinion, the only person Gibson owes and apology to is the policeman he was yelling at.

I am insulted by other Jews demanding apologies from Mel Gibson on behalf of the Jewish community. The only person Abe Foxman speaks for is Abe Foxman.

I am far more disturbed by Gibson’s drinking and driving, although I seem to be in the minority about this.

  • Max Godwin

I think the murderer George W. Bush gives evangelicals a bad name.

  • Bob Friedman

I have always liked and respected Mel Gibson. He is an excellent actor/director, a devoted family man,
devout Catholic, and a patriotic American. However, I believe he is also a very troubled soul. How could he not be troubled. Here is a very intellligent and decent human being raised by a father, and perhaps toher family members, who has a deep and abiding hatred for the Jewish people. Wether Hutton Gibson, Mel’s father actually believes that Jews must forever and collectively be considered guilty of one man’s death 2,000 years ago and deserve to be persecuted unmerciflly forever, I do not know. But this I do believe, and that is that Mel Gibson is a deeply troubled man. He is my favorite actor, and God had granted him enormous talents, for which he should be eternally grateful.
It is my hope that Mel Gibson earnestly seeks help, both from doctors and from God to cure him of his twin diseases of alcoholism and his deep seated bigotry. Mel Gibson is one of those people that you very much want to like; and as a Jew, I wish him a full and speady recovery.

  • As a orthodox Jew I can attest to Yerushalmis analysis on this issue. He hit the nail on the head although I would like to add that the root cause for Muslim world hating the west is precisely because of what the liberals have done to America… i.e.: trying to destroy family values desensitizing TV in the name of freedom of expression the list goes on… my point is not to say America should become a Taliban state and instead of fighting the war on terror in the middle east we should start arresting all people in the porn business, ill I’m saying is that Americans should be a little honest with them selves regarding the root cause of Muslim hatred
