A Biblical perspective on the history of Anti-Semitism. Perhaps Mel Gibson's recent careless remarks were the result of his impact for the the kingdom of God, and so he was targeted by demonic forces to exploit his weaknesses.
Bill Bennett's Morning in America radio program had a caller ask on August 7th, "Besides the fact that the Jews crucified Christ, why are they as a people so hated around the world?" This is an ignorant question from a theological point of view and a dumb question from someone who supposedly is paying attention. Bill and crew handled the question from the latter perspective: Israel is the lone prospering nation in the Middle East; anti-Semitism has its roots in Shakespearean England (?!). The answer is Jesus came to earth, through the Jewish people, and came to die (no one took his life, he willingly laid it down) to bring salvation and rescue mankind from the grip of Satan. That's why Jews and Israel are hated.
My brother Rick Estrada sent an e-mail to his network of churches last week on this very topic. I'd like to relay that message here, called, Why Is There Anti-Semitism?

Dear Friend,
Why is there anti-semitism ? Because the old ancient foe is still
inciting people today against Israel and God's beloved Jewish people.
The above passage shows how Satan caused David to stumble in his walk
with God. But more important we see in the passage the nature of Satan and
his hatred for Israel, and how through his demonic legions will supernaturally
incite people to hate the Jews.
He has demons who are specifically assigned to Nations, to certain demonic religions, to certain susceptible individuals thoughout the world to incite hatred for the Jew and the state of Israel.
Those who hate the Jew in this present world have been raped by demonic forces and have become puppets of the Devil.
This hatred is not normal, it is supernatural. It is inspired by a human body's
inhabited by demons.

What was his scheme in this ? To declare Hitler a "Christian", and say that
it was done in the name of Jesus Christ or Christianity.

His goal is to destroy you or bring shame and disgrace upon you. He wants to make a fool of you and make a public mockery of Christianity.
The Devil even entered Peter in a moment of weakness, and spoke through
him (Matthew 16:23).

You see, many liberals / neoconservatives confuse criticism of Israel with anti-Semitism. They are not the same. Israel is not beyond reproach. As Russell Kirk said, many neoconservatives have "mistaken Tel Aviv for the capital of the United States."
Israel is one of the biggest terrorist states in the Middle East who just use gullible American Evangelicals for political leverage. Many neoconservatives behind closed doors have even called the pro-Israel Christians their "useful idiots."
A real conservative should neither support Israel nor the Arabs. They are both terrorists.

The problem with the article is that it's biblically wrong for this current dispensation of the Grace of God. There are only two kinds of people in this world - saved and unsaved. One must not confuse the strip of land in the Middle East with the priest class Nation of Israel described in the bible. 1948's land grant was by men, NOT by God.
Whether you live in Rhode Island, Israel, or Iran - you either believe on the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ for salvation or you do not. All the horrible events that take place on this planet are because Satan is the "god of this world," and there are not enough saved people sharing the Gospel of the Grace of God.

"Satan hates the Jews because the Savior of the world is Jewish. Satan hates Jesus Christ, His people,and His country". Excuse me , but the Jews rejected Jesus. Did they reject him because he was Jewish? They rejected him because he wasn't the "kind" of Messiah they were looking for…a political savior instead of a spiritual one. They were looking for worldly gain not spiritual closeness to God. The fact that they are "God Chosen People" hasn't helped them because this makes then think they are better than everyone else . Jesus saved his harshest criticisms for Jewish spiritual leaders whom he called hypocrites…. Why did Jesus hate the Jews? If were here today condemning the actions of Jewish leaders wouldn't he be called anti-semitic?

I concur with Katzen. Terrorists are focused on annihilation, not retaliation and target innocent civilians (you know, like Hezbollah is doing). I would like to know an appropriate measured response when you are surrounded by countries bent on your destruction with Westerners ponderously stroking their chin and saying "maybe all these Arab states have a point. After all, these doctored photographs show all these women and children they are killing."
By not retalliating when the enemy routinely kidnaps innocent civilians and soldiers which you can get back by trading several hundred of their soldiers bent on your destruction for everyone they've kidnapped. If there was no response to a concerted effort to wipe out the Isrealis, we should have merely stood back and let Hitler finish his work.
The problem with our world is an inability to discern evil. I believe Mr. Estrada makes compelling points. I do, however, wonder about the Jewish rejection of Christ. Christians are facing a different kind of annihilation, but may not even be next on the terrorist hit list. They hate us for rejecting their religious vision, but Muslims certainly hate much of the worldly corruption caused by the secular left (who also reject their religious worldview). Christian's greatest enemies seem to be in our own countries.

First of all, that verse really should be qualified with the preceding verses and proceeding verses: what it says is that those who have accepted Christ (the church that Paul was addressing in this particular book) are sons of God through faith, and that among them, there is neither Jew, nor gentile, nor slave. According to the Bible, the Jews have been blinded because of their rejection of Christ and will be made to see the truth when he returns. God promises to reconcile himself with his chosen people, so don't get arrogant, it is only by their rejection that anyone else gets to be saved at all (not my words, that was said by Paul in Romans). And actually, the 1948 land grant, much like the Biblical land grants made by earthly, secular kings (i.e., by MEN) that returned the Jews to their land several times, is in accordance with prophecy made in Revelations about the Jewish state - the state that will be at the center of the last war to take place on earth, if you believe the writings.
I don't think there's any discounting a spirtual element in the worlds hatred of the Jews. Hitler killed millions of non-Jews during WWII, devestated the European landscape and changed the continent forever. He is a hated man to be sure, but the German nation (which actively participated in that regime, lest we forget) is not despised the world over, and that was only 60 years ago. By contrast, I have never seen a more universally dispised race than Jews (yes, including black people in the oppresive and xenophobic United States) - by religous and non-religous people alike. Even many secular Jews hate the Jewish race. It's unbelievable. The worlds capacity for forgiveness and sympathy to those who have vowed to destroy the entire Jewish state is unending, yet when Israel defends itself after 3,000 rockets land in northern Israeli neighborhoods full of civilians, the entire world condemns a so called Israeli aggresion. If 3,000 rockets landed in neighborhoods throughout Italy, or England or France, I don't think the "International Community" would have the same response when those nations rose to defend themselves. The universal worldwide hatred of the Jews and the Jewish state is just too irrational for me to chalk it up to racism or fanaticism of a vocal minority.

The actions of Israel and the violent Arabs (and I suppose you're including the Persians) make them equally terrorists?
It seems to me that the entirety of the actions of Israel clearly point out that they merely want to be left alone and to exist in peace while Hamas, Hezbollah, Syria and Iran are consistently trying to eliminate the state of Israel.
A thriving democracy at the very least is a great threat to neighboring totalitarian and/or theocratic governments. That particular form of theocracy in the region is for world peace and the means is subjugation to the tenets of Islam or death. Let's not be naive to propaganda.

Since conspiracies seem to always be impossible to implement I have to consider at times the amazing alignment of so many groups in this country for the removal of Christianity for example. It might be demonic since my belief system includes the satanic realm.
I do know of one basic dynamic that is secular or maybe natural by nature and that is the nature of power and the drive for a safety in a monopoly.
Whatever a government gets involved in is inefficient and generally cannot compete in an open system and therefore must be protected by monopoly.
Our government would not allow full competition in postal delivery or public schools for example. The existing protected systems are by nature inefficient and would therefore lose.
The same is true when ideology is a part of the government as is the case in communism. To maintain their monopoly of thought they must guard against and eliminate any competitive ideology or collapse since the government is based on ideology. Competition in that case would include Christianity, Judaism, and any other religion.
Might it also be a natural event in ideology-based Muslim and communist countries to eliminate those with competing ideologies such as Christians and Jews?

Following Russell Kirk and Aristotle, I do not think that democracy is superior to monarchy. Different traditions require different forms of government.
The Wilsonian liberal interventionist conversion of the Middle East to democracy is not conservative at all - it is neo-Marxist.
Regarding Israel and the Arabs, neither is innocent. Both commit horrible acts.
However, following Washington, Adams and Jefferson, I think we should align ourselves with no country, especially the terrorist state of Israel. Let the Arabs and Israel fight it out. It is not our concern.
Regarding wacko Evangelicals support of Israel, it is founded on false scripture. The Jews of Israel are in no way - neither historically nor genetically - related to the Hebrews of the Old Test.
True Christians, like myself, realize that Israel is in fact the "army of Satan."

All I want to add is my disagreement with his answer:

This is in the past tense because it was a vision not because it has actually happened yet. Satan is STILL here on Earth. This answer uses Revelation in a misleading way I think.

If you google "neoconservative useful idiot christians israel" you get a bunch of pages with people claiming neoconservatives think pro-Israel Christians are useful idiots. None of them quote any particular neoconservatives.
Now, certainly, you must be able to name a neoconservative who has said this. Actually, you must be able to name "many," because that's what you said. I don't know how you'd be privy to this however, seeing as how it happens "behind closed doors."
You also imply that there is no overlap between Evangelical Christians and neoconservatives. Is it possible for an Evangelical Christian to be a neoconservative? If so, these neocons better be careful to exclude them from their "behind closed doors" sessions.
Calling a calumny a "known fact" doesn't make it factual.

Dear Mr. Mulligan:
My point had NOTHING to do with whether Israel should defend herself. She should. Those that desire to see that nation wiped off the earth need to be eliminated sooner rather than later. Islamic fascists are an immediate danger to Israel, and a slightly longer term danger to the planet. Israel is a good and proper democratic force in the world. I remain sceptical, however, of those that attempt to read prophecy into this dispensation of the Grace of God.

Cato, you're right. The Jews in Israel today are not at all related to the Jews of the old Testament. Most mainstream historians agree on this.
I used to be friends with a bunch of neoconservative jews in NYC. They always used to talk of Evangelicals as a herd of cattle - stupid but good for raising money for Israel. Editor's note: This comment was edited for containing blatanly false and defamatory statements.

The second part of my comment wasn't meant to be aimed at you, it was just a general musing on the topic. Skepticism is certainly healthy, not everything is a dire signal that the end is nigh, in fact, the Bible leaves most details vague and warns Christians to be alert at all times. I'm not interested in Christian end-time philosophy, but I can definitely see a non-rational, unexplainable element to the world's fierce anti-Semitism, and I do believe that the current Israeli state established in 1948 has the same relevence as previous Jewish states that were established and restablished by land grants by kings described in the Bible.

the term "useful idiots" , if you learned anything from reading the article, sounds like another
anti-Israel slur. Just what the writer was conveying in his writing. These slurs are coming from
demons who are opposed to and hate the Israeli. Its the vocabulary of the Devil. and it appears
that the above commenter is another puppet. If I've learned anything from the above piece.
I dont read the bible, but I'm going to start. Because the truth rings out to me, and it makes a lot

I thought most conservatives were God fearing. Here is the Word of God says about Israel,
and this is the Word I adhere to :

and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you."

A lesson learned: As long as the United States Supports Israel, we shall maintain a blessing
