What George Bush has endured in his six years in office, that is, a constant barrage of negativism and attacks on every side from the Left, the Republican Congress has tasted in this mid-term election season. And they've survived.
Republicans have been taken to a back room for a scolding by its base. What the mainstream media and the Democrats have missed or ignored is that the room has a window that faces the sunrise. Like the character Pilgrim, in Pilgrim's Progress, peace has been found after a long night of darkness. Republican voters, Christian and otherwise, will be out in full force and the Dems may have to keep the Champaign on ice on the evening of November 7th.

And they've survived. Much like Bush, the attacks prove to be fruitless and actually come around in boomerang fashion to smash the attacker in the mouth.
The latest example is Michael J. Fox and his work in Missouri to get the Democrat elected in its Senate campaign. Fox is a great actor, but he is misinformed. Stem cell research has yielded great results, but from adult samples and not from embryonic sources. While Dems attempt to reach "religious" voters, they fail to even comprehend what it important to them.
As an evangelical, I was never off the reservation in this election. Why in the world would I punish myself by electing Democrats? The best opportunity for Republicans to effect a change inside the party is during the presidential primary fight for the 2008 nomination. With regard to the war in Iraq, Bush has acted in the best interests of this country. If the debate, then, is about the next course of action and/or the scope of our involvement, let the debate bring forth a Republican champion.
To hand the war over to a Democrat is tantamount to surrender. There are no FDR's in the Democrat nomination landscape. Is there a Reagan on the Republican horizon? Let's find out and flesh him or her out for the '08 race. This mid-term battle is not for public punishment of Republican failures, but an opportunity to position our strengths ahead of our weaknesses for the difficult road ahead.
