First and foremost, they care only for getting elected, not for fidelity to core conservative values. I can easily imagine them calculating that a Guiliani ticket would win far more "moderate" and "independent" voters than it would lose in social conservative voters.... and those votes are taken for granted anyhow. "What're they gonna do, vote for Hillary? Stay home? So what?" I ardently hope to see Mr. Thompson get out on the stump and demonstrate vividly and irrefutably that he has the message- and is the messenger- that Americans will respond to, as they did to Reagan.
