The question left unanswered by the author is what the government will spend the money on instead. More bridges to nowhere?

When California was in the financial bind that got Governor Gray Davis recalled and Arnold elected in his place, the federal government offered to give the state $2 billion in aid. Immediately (if not sooner), politicians from both sides scrambled to dust off some projects that had been shelved due to the lack of money.

That's the way government thinks.

Wow, you really are an idiot if you seriously think scrapping NASA is a positive thing for our nation. Please. Most of the technologies that fuel our modern society come out of the space program. I'm all for cutting down on government agencies, but nasa is vital. Even the Compact Disc comes directly from the space program.

I agree that we are doing the wrong things up there right now, as far as the whole ISS goes, that thing is worthless. But focusing on the moon, and mars are important steps for the nation. Not only for the technologies that emerge through that, but also national defense, and prospective energy solutions. Before you cut NASA, make social security private, kill 4h subsidies, sell off medicare and medicaide, eliminate welfare, and get some capatalistic spirit back in the country. Please...kill NASA? Go ahead, why don't you just hand our nation over to china.
