Ultra-violent barbarians are preying on American citizens, while George W. Bush and the open borders crowd have abandoned reality for the fantasy of the imagined similarity of all people regardless of nation, creed, race, culture, gender, class, IQ, education, values, breeding, and what have you.
Part Two — Autoasphyxiation, not strangling

Importing mayhem
According to statistics released by Rep. Steve King (R-IA) in May 2006, 12 Americans were murdered every day by illegal aliens last year. In addition, 13 were killed daily by drunk illegal aliens. Between the conventional murderers and the drunk – and in a great many cases unlicensed – homicidal drivers, illegal aliens, overwhelmingly Mestizos from Mexico and Central America, killed 9,125 Americans in 2006. Given the increase of the illegal alien population by an estimated one million per year, it's probable that by the end of 2007 the annual toll of lost American lives will have increased to 9,500.
Following a request from the House Subcommittee on Immigration, in April 2005 the Government Accountability Office released a study of 55,322 illegal aliens incarcerated during 2003. These are its main findings:
* The 55,322 illegal aliens studied had been arrested a total of 459,614 times, over eight arrests per person;
* These 459,614 arrests represented about 700,000 criminal offenses, some 13 offenses per person.
These figures were available in June '07, when half the U.S. Senate, President Bush, top Federal Government officials, a vast business lobby, and the entire apparatus of the Democratic Party pulled out all the stops to ram through a legalization of an estimated 12-20 million illegal aliens. Gives one something to think about.
The numbers
Having lived for a couple of years three blocks away from Mumia Abu-Jamal, and then for years more surrounded by Mexicans legal and illegal in central Los Angeles, to use an idiom, I don't need no statistics.
I knew cops who went to work every morning clad in ballistic Kevlar and bearing Fallujah-grade MP5 submachine guns. My house was ransacked by a crew of Latinos; I once walked in on two Latinos menacing a female realtor; I fought with Latinos over their cruelty to dogs; my friend's daughter was raped by a Latino; another friend still lives in a bucolic coastal town, now in the clutch of Mexican barbarians, many of them drug dealers.
Still, I need statistics, all of us do, to prove that we are not "pre"-judiced but, if anything, "post"-judiced. But with Latino crime, just like with black crime statistics discussed in Part 1, the U.S. government is of no help.
I spend considerable time at the websites of the FBI and the DoJ. Nothing. I find an Immigration Statistics page on the Department of Homeland Security's website. Useless. Then I try the blogosphere.
Right away, I come across a comprehensive list of criminal stats and others characteristics of the illegal alien population: "2006 (First Quarter) INS/FBI Statistical Report on Undocumented Immigrants." This is concise, clear, and just what I was looking for. Alas, it's also suspect.
Though it's featured on many right-of-center websites, e.g. here, and is reproduced in constituents' letters to several U.S. Congressmen, no link is provided in any of the citations, and I cannot trace "2006 (First Quarter) INS/FBI Statistical Report on Undocumented Immigrants" to the INS or the FBI by other means either. Moreover, by 2006 the INS had been dead for 3 years, so it's suspect that this acronym appears in the title.
Faced with an unreliable panorama, I prefer to put together a mosaic out of little bits retrieved here and there.
In Heather MacDonald's work – I am an admirer – I find two telling stats:
* In Los Angeles, in 2004, 95% of the outstanding 1,200 to 1,500 warrants for homicide targeted illegal aliens. Up to two-thirds of all fugitive felony warrants (17,000) were for illegal aliens.
* In Fresno, now 45 percent Hispanic, 20% of the county jail inmates are illegal aliens, as are about one-quarter of emergency-room patients.
The New Century Foundation has published "The Color of Crime" in 2005, and "Hispanics; A Statistical Portrait," in September 2006. These are comprehensive reports, laden with a wealth of referenced statistics. But they are long, broad, and not focused on what I am after. Still, I find the following brush strokes to add to the portrait:
* Latinos are 19 times more likely than whites to be members of gangs, while blacks are 15 times more likely.
* Latinos commit violent crime at roughly 3 times the rate for whites.
* There were 267,000 criminal aliens in all prisons and jails in 2003, about three-quarters of whom were Latinos.
* In mid-2005, 3.9% of Latino men aged 25-29 were in prison or jail, vs. 1.7% of whites and 11.9% of blacks.
Another report with a similar-sounding title: "A Statistical Portrait of Hispanics at Mid-Decade" proves to be partisan propaganda. The banner on the webpage reads, "Pew Hispanic Center; Chronicling Latinos diverse experiences in changing America," but despite the 32 statistical tables, there is no trace here of how tremendous Latino crime is changing America. After all, the main function of the Pew Foundation, endowed like its peers by rich patrician whites, is to wave the flag of surrender before the Third World hordes.
The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) website features a study entitled "Illegal Aliens and Crime Incidence." I can't make much use of it, because, like most of the data available elsewhere, it concentrates on incarceration rates, whereas I am more interested in committed crimes. Still, one comment sticks out.
The FAIR study points to a correlation between illegal alien presence rates and crime rates. In 2000, Arizona had the highest per capita rate of illegal aliens in the country, the highest per capita rates of property crimes and vehicle theft in the country, and the nation's 2nd highest rate of larceny theft. Arizona also ranked 5th for burglaries, 9th for murders, and 15th for robberies and aggravated assaults. There is nothing about the population in Arizona, the authors state, that would appear to explain this pattern of crime incidence other than the illegal alien population and the proximity to the border with Mexico.
Possibly the best source of truthful writing about the woes of U.S.-style immigration is the website VDare, but it does not compile the large quantity of statistical and other facts imbedded in its archived articles. I have to search in sites with easier retrieval.
Hoping to find information on Hispanic gangs, I find conflicting, useless profiles on the LAPD's website, citing "250 active gangs in Los Angeles, with a combined membership of over 26,000 individuals" here, and "407 gangs with a total membership of 65,271" here.
The LAPD does not mention that the majority of the gangsters are Latinos, legal and illegal. Nor do these figures have anything to do with current reality. The number of gang members in Los Angeles County was reliably estimated in 1998 at 150,000, with the number of Latino gangs alone exceeding 600. What those numbers are in 2007, apparently only God knows.
Still, consider the number 150,000. That is an enemy force of 12 armed divisions.
All of which is consistent with Antonio Villaraigosa, the Mayor of Los Angeles. A former Mechista, Villaraigosa is an ethnocentric, even irredentist Latino, and a vocal advocate of amnesty, open borders, and L.A.'s “sanctuary” policy. He has completed the thorough emasculation-by-PC of the LAPD, begun a generation ago.
The NRO articles of the pseudonymous LAPD officer, "Jack Dunphy," provide an insight on all this. In his August 17, 2007 piece, Dunphy ridicules the [ultra-liberal] Justice Policy Institute’s report that complains about “young men of color" being disproportionately identified as gang members. Noting that "Hispanics" make up 49% of L.A.'s population, and blacks are 10%, Dunphy states:
The well-meaning people at the Institute are of course entitled to their own opinions, but they’re not entitled to their own facts. Yes, there are some white gang members in Los Angeles, but of the 245 murder suspects identified in the city in 2006, only 15 were white, while 123 were Hispanic and 97 were black. And, as most murders are intra-racial, homicide victims broke down along nearly identical lines.
Elsewhere, Dunphy states that of the 481 murders investigated by the LAPD in 2006, almost half occurred among the 18% of the city’s population living in South and South-Central L.A. — areas that are practically all black and Latino.
The Countenance Blog, in its discussion of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang, relays the anecdotal information from a former U.S. ambassador to El Salvador, that 20% of El Salvador’s population lives in the United States. This transpired in a TV show about Salvadoran gangs in the U.S., about which Countenace says:
Any person with a brain who watched this show and does not realize the immediate need for a fence along our southern border with 100,000 volts running through its metallic veins needs to be sent to a rubber room.
Seeking to corroborate the 20% factoid, I go to the El Salvador page of the U.S. Department of State. Uncle does let on that "More than 19,000 American citizens live and work full-time in El Salvador." But Uncle has nothing to say about how many hundreds of thousands of Salvadorans live on welfare, or kill, maim, and smuggle drugs for a living, in the United States.
These are not matters merely of academic interest. WorldNetDaily.com relayed on August 27, per the FBI, that branches of the ultra-violent MS-13 have been identified in 42 U.S. states, mainly in Los Angeles, Washington, Baltimore, New York, Houston, Charlotte, Sacramento, Seattle, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Omaha, Newark and Boston. It is not coincidental that of these 13 metropolises, nine are "sanctuary cities" for illegal aliens, and Las Vegas is on its way to that morally exalted status. In total, at least 125 cities and counties have declared themselves "sanctuaries." There are even whole sanctuary states, such as California, Maine, and Oregon.
To see how the MS-13 is merely an opportunistic fungus growing on a decaying, decadent national body, one might take a peek at Virginia. In 2005, Potomac News informs, Virginia was home to an estimated 30,000 members of 80 gangs. Of those, the most violent is the Mara Salvatrucha, the origins of which are concisely laid out:
The gang took root during the 1980s in Los Angeles, as Salvadorans fled the country's brutal civil war. Unwelcome by the Mexican gangs already established in L.A., the newcomers banded together for their own protection. Many had paramilitary weapons training and were intimately familiar with violence and death. The name is Salvadoran slang: "mara" for posse and "salvatrucha" for street-tough Salvadoran.
I have some questions at this point. What is the necessary connection between "Salvadorans fled the country's brutal civil war," and their sudden appearance as "newcomers" in Los Angeles, "banding together for their own protection"? Why are these people here, in the United States? 20% of a backward, violent, banana republic's population? Have we lost our minds?
The Potomac News' writer does not anticipate my questions. He can't. If he had, he'd have lost his paycheck and sunk his career. But he does note:
The gang's growth in Northern Virginia has been fueled by the growing ranks of Latino immigrants, about 120,000 in Fairfax County alone.
What we are doing to ourselves is known in the lexicon of sexual perversion as autoasphyxiation. I find the most honest definition of this term on the website of the provocatively named Ph.D. sexologist, Annie Sprinkle, who defines it as, "The act of hanging oneself in order to cut off oxygen and blood flow to the brain while masturbating."
It's masturbation, because we have abandoned reality for the fantasy of the imagined similarity of all people regardless of nation, creed, race, culture, gender, class, IQ, education, values, breeding, and what have you. We have given up even self-preservation in the name of the 11th, spurious commandment, "Thou shalt not discriminate." And it is a self-execution too, as it would be for any living organism.
No panorama, but there are snapshots
Having failed to locate a deductive source of data on "Hispanic" crime, I have to opt for the inductive method.
A friend in California writes:
People are very unhappy with the creeping violence . . . the drug lords taking over parks with marijuana plantations . . . and legal construction work being undermined by illegal low pay laborers . . . and gardeners many of whom supplement their meager wages by being a lookout for criminals who engage in home invasions or stealing mail . . . You have to lock and double lock everything today.
Scanning national crime news for the 17 days between July 23 and August 10, 2007, I find that on July 23 a convicted sex offender and Thai immigrant, Terapon Dang Adhahn, was charged with kidnapping, raping and killing Zina Linnik, a 12-year-old girl whom he had snatched outside her family’s home during a July 4th fireworks celebration.
After his arrest, it transpired that Adhahn was an ex-con who had served a jail sentence for a violent rape. He also had a 1992 conviction for intimidation with a dangerous weapon that should have triggered, but didn't, his deportation. Other than his rape and murder of Zina Linnik, Adhahn may have committed 50-plus counts of child rape, and multiple murders of girls who have disappeared or were found dead in the Tacoma, WA area in the last 20 years.
Also on July 23, Mahamu Kanneh, a Liberian immigrant child molester, was rearrested in Philadelphia after a judge had dismissed his trial in June because of difficulty with finding him an interpreter. As per Michelle Malkin, the nine counts against Kanneh include the rape of his two nieces: one seven and the other one-and-a-half-years old.
On August 6, New York headlines informed: "Father of 2, out for milk, fatally stabbed." Just the usual: a 45-year-old plumber, Anthony Senisi, goes out to the corner store to buy some milk. On his way back, right in front of his house, he is stabbed in the back and expires in front of his 77-year-old father and 11-year-old son. The killer is Mejia Cinto, 19 years old. It's dubbed a "senseless killing," possibly a case of mistaken identity.
Three days later, there is a resolution. New York media outlets inform that Mejia Cinto was arrested at a friend's house in Hazleton, Pennsylvania – about 140 miles from Brighton Beach. Some news reports inform that Cinto was a "gang member."
What you will not find, unless you visit fringe websites operated by people sick of having been abandoned by their government, is that Mejia Cintos is a Mexican illegal alien. Nor can you find a mainstream newspaper or TV program that would criticize Federal Judge James Munley, who just a few days earlier had struck down the efforts of Hazleton, Pa. to halt its invasion and decomposition by illegal Latino aliens.
On August 9, Jose Carranza, a Peruvian illegal alien, was arrested and charged with the execution-style shooting of four black college students in a schoolyard in Newark, NJ. Three died. At the time of the murders, Carranza was free on bail, for the second time. His two indictments had been for repeatedly raping and threatening to kill a 5-year-old girl, and for aggravated assault and weapons offenses. New Jersey authorities twice allowed this alien criminal to slip out of custody with minimal bail, without reporting his illegal immigrant status.
But this is just the edge of the sobering truth. A few days later, it transpires that investigators are looking for Rodolfo Godinez and two juvenile suspects, members of the MS-13 gang, in connection with the Newark murders. Godinez, a Nicaraguan national, obtained a green card in 2001, despite having already been arrested for robbery in 1999. The charge was downgraded to theft and he was sentenced to 18 months probation.
That would be only the beginning of Godinez's rap sheet. In September 2002, he was arrested for aggravated assault, robbery and weapons possession. It's unclear what the outcome of those charges was.
In April 2003, Godinez was arrested for robbery in Newark. The charge was downgraded to theft, and he was sentenced to 18 months probation. Because he pleaded again to lesser offenses, he avoided jail or deportation, and was free to murder three innocent people on a recent summer night in Newark – not coincidentally, a "sanctuary city."
It is not coincidental either that the news for a "sanctuary" state, Oregon, discloses on August 9 that two suspects charged with the aggravated murder of an American girl admitted they came to the United States illegally:
Police said 15-year-old Dani Countryman was trying to fight off Alejandro Rivera Gamboa and his cousin, 23-year-old cousin Gilberto Javier Rivera Gamboa when they strangled her at a Milwaukee apartment in late July.
A day later, an additional disclosure illustrates just how much the system is broken: one of the rapists-murderers had been arrested four times on drunken driving charges over the past seven years. On each of those occasions his illegal status could have been verified and he could have been deported. It wasn't and he wasn't.
Scanning the Web archive page of The Oregonian just for a few seconds, I come across these additional stories from the last three months:
"Arrests made in nearly year-old Beaverton killing"
It's about the arrest of Luciano Talavera-Cibrian, 35, and Luis Felipe-Gonzalez, 34, for the fatal shooting of Juan Humberto Rincon Cruz, and the shooting of Moises Aldaba De Los Santos, 24, who survived. Those noble-sounding, hyphenated names belie our "Hispanic" designation. For these are primitive Meso-Amerindian Mestizo peons, rejected by the real Hispanics of their native countries. They would find it much harder to fit and be accepted in Spain than they do in the naïve and woefully undiscriminating (i.e. lacking discernment) United States.
Another headline: "Suspect shot by officer had taken taser."
Care to speculate about the identity of the (car theft and meth) suspect? It's reported as Cesar Alejandro Gonzalez-Meza, 19, of Stayton, but I doubt that Stayton is Mr. Meza's original hometown. Yet, he is here — one of Oregon's prized "Hispanics" who now constitute about 10% of that state's 3.8 million population.
Ann Coulter saves me from having to keep the log of imported mayhem for another fortnight. In her "1 Down, 11,999,999 to Go," published on August 22, Coulter lists the following illegal aliens who were charged or convicted of heinous crimes in the preceding week:
Ruben Hernandez-Juarez, charged with sexually molesting a 6-year-old boy in Martin County, Fla.
Alejandro Bautista, convicted for sexually molesting two teenaged boys in Cook County, Ill.
Alejandro Xuya-Sian, who hit a pedestrian with his car in New York and dragged him for nearly a mile before dislodging the victim from his car, throwing him aside and driving off again.
Alberto Barajas-Enriquez, charged with beating his Michigan neighbor to death with a golf club because the neighbor complained about the constant barking of Enriquez's dog.
Lucio Sanchez-Martinez, charged with sexually molesting a sleeping 8-year-old girl, in Ohio.
Coulter notes, tellingly, "For illegal aliens charged with child molestation, I had to limit it to two days last week."
Word has it that “Express Kidnapping” is the latest contribution of Mestizo culture to America. Perfected in Mexico City and other large Latin American cities, “Express Kidnapping” means snatching someone off the street, driving him or her to an ATM to drain their account, forcing a family member to bring down any money or valuables in the home as ransom, and then, as often as not, still shooting the victim in the head and dumping the body by the side of the road.
Now, if there were a few half-Indian Mexican, Salvadoran or Peruvian prodigies who have in the past composed the Goldberg Variations; or who headed the distinguished faculty of particle physics at the Acapulco Max Planck Institute, if there were one; or who applied total product quality control to build an enviable industry; or who perfected open heart surgery – sorry, bad connotation there – one might hope that one day there will be a payoff for all these DUI homicides, and brutal rapes, and lethal kidnappings, and senseless gang murders. But there is no countervailing benefit, and there will be no future payoff.
When Jorge, Carlos, Melquíades, and Alberto are the shepherd, the wolf need not worry.
The names above are those of the POTUS, George W. Bush; US Secretary of Commerce, Carlos Miguel Gutiérrez; junior US senator from Florida and Chairman of the Republican Party, Melquíades Rafael "Mel" Martínez; and 80th United States Attorney General and Bush crony, over-his-head Alberto Gonzales. They are the poster-faces of the multiculti wing of the GOP, and the point men in the grand scheme to "Latinize" the United States. George W. Bush is indeed our first Mexican president, the way Bill Clinton was the first black president.
World Net Daily reported on Aug. 27 that U.S. Border Patrol sector chief Carlos X. Carrillo had said at a town hall meeting in Texas:
The Border Patrol's job is not to stop illegal immigrants. The Border Patrol's job is not to stop narcotics [snip] . . . not to stop criminals. The Border Patrol's mission is to stop terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering the country.
Tom Tancredo, the only current U.S. presidential candidate who speaks out about the self-inflicted disaster of American immigration, called on David Aguilar, the chief of the U.S. Border Patrol, to remove Carrillo from his leadership position, but Mr. Aguilar took Carrillo's side. So it's not only the shepherds but the sheep dogs too that have gone over to the other side.
There are 11,000 Border Patrol agents, equipped seemingly only with binoculars, pistols, and native LatAm Spanish. If they are who we rely on for protection against commando-trained foreign terrorist infiltrants of the 19,000 miles of the United States' land and sea borders, God help us. And if that's what they do instead of apprehending illegal aliens, God help us too.
Actually, it feels like the entire U.S. government has gone over to the other side. Hordes of ultra-violent barbarians are preying on American citizens. The government has dealt with this slow-motion ethnic cleansing by shuffling organizational charts and changing logotypes. Local governments have defied federal laws to set up sanctuary zones for the very alien population that breeds and shelters the killers and rapists from south of the border.
As to America's last line of defense, its courts, it might as well be staffed by a declared enemy. Whether with savage black recidivists, or with the alien crop of invading predators, judges side with the criminals and not with their victims. Our legal system's finest deliberately release hundreds of thousands of dangerous psychopaths, to prey on peaceful Americans.
This being an election year, and the four Newark victims of Carranza–Godinez and their MS-13 accomplices being black, finally voices of outrage are being heard. The federal government's incompetence, timidity and uncoordinated efforts to identify and deport criminal illegal aliens have had devastating consequences for innocent Americans, wrote Newt Gingrich. He suggested, reportedly, that the "war here at home" against illegal immigrants is "more deadly than the war in Iraq and Afghanistan."
But there is no war at home against illegal immigrants. There is a taxpayer-funded, giant red carpet starting right at the Mexican border. The war at home is one-sided: it's illegal immigrants exterminating Americans.
Not to be outdone, on the same day, August 14, another presidential hopeful, Rudy Giuliani, "vowed to stop the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States." But as mayor, Mr. Giulani had made New York a de facto "sanctuary city" for illegal aliens – one of whom, Diego Pillco, 19, from Ecuador, strangled and strung up the actress Adrienne Shelly in November 2006.
And it's not like there is succor on the Left. Of the Democratic presidential candidates, there isn't one who would not rather bite off her tongue than say an unkind word about any person or matter "of color."
Among the readers' comments to the Newt Gingrich story referenced above, "gene" informs that Bill Richardson has issued an executive order stopping the New Mexico State Police from asking felons about legal citizenship status. Albuquerque mayor Marty Chavez has done the same to the city police.
These Latino-Americans (Richardson is a López-Collada Márquez) draw their U.S. shepherds' salaries, but they actually work for the similarly surnamed wolves. They do for La Reconquista on the state level what Jorge & Co. are doing on the national level.
We are on our own. But perhaps we deserve to be.
Penance, Pain and Perverse Pleasure
I ask a friend of mine, who used to be a big-city prosecutor, why all this is going on. Here is his answer, redacted and condensed:
The whites have been so intimidated and demoralized for so long that they accept these horrors as their just due. Dr. Gedahlia Braun, an American doctor who worked for decades in South Africa, put it best in his book Racism, Guilt and Self-Deceit:
"There is a fatal flaw in the white race: the capacity for self-flagellating, exaggerated and unwarranted guilt and the self-hatred that seems to underlie it. This self-hatred is at the heart of the white man's increasing insistence that he is a miserable racist who is to blame for the black man's [and the Mestizo's] failures. Once blacks [and Latinos] learned that whites gave them a moral excuse to hate, they have been happy to oblige, instinctively realizing their psychological advantage as the injured party — all in a tremendous con game in which the white man is both instigator and willing victim."
People who have a death wish are not about to rise up. They see these horrors as a welcome payback.
This white "madness" began at the beginning of the civil rights movement. The communists and Marxists in the civil rights movement were using the movement to destroy the will and confidence of the American people. They were the instigators of riots, crimes, arson, rape and murder, but they got away with it.The term "jail" came to be regarded as too unkind to the criminal. They changed it to "penitentiary," and then to "correctional facility." Now the theory was that the criminal was just a lad who needed guidance to correct his unfortunate behavior. The idea that prison is a place for righteous punishment was unthinkable, because now there was a new idea: that society was responsible for the criminal's behavior.
The savvy criminal realized he could continue his life of crime with the security of knowing that the occupational hazards of his criminal business have decreased to an incredible extent. He saw this new view and movement as a kind of OSHA for criminals, and proceeded to take advantage of it.
The judges began to see themselves as powerful instruments to "do good" and to "help" the disadvantaged criminal, rather than to punish the guilty and protect society. They started to hand down very light sentences. They thought the criminals would appreciate this kindness. The criminals were laughing all the way to their next rape or robbery.
So now the police are disrespected and reviled, the judiciary crippled mentally, and the decent people are subjected to propaganda 24/7 that they are no good and that they are the cause of all the black's [and Latino's] failures, and that crime against them is a small price to pay for the sins of their ancestors.The future will look back and wonder how this could have happened. I prosecuted a case in which a married and universally adored high school teacher had been violently murdered by a couple of young black males looking to kill a white person. The shooter, who took careful aim from a distance and shot the victim in the back of the head, had recently participated in a vicious stabbing, robbery and murder.
Shortly after the killing, the victim's wife stated that she was sorry for these black boys; she blamed the white race for her husband's murder. To understand this sort of insane reaction by a grieving young widow to the cold-blooded, unprovoked murder of her husband, one must go to an analytical book, Man in the Trap, by the psychiatrist Ellsworth Baker.
A chapter of this 1965 book that is accessible on the Internet: "The True Liberal, The Modern Liberal, and the Environmental Liberal," yields the following quote:
Although modern liberals are actually few in number [snip], their influence is felt out of proportion to their number because their anxiety presses them to force acceptance of their needs and since, by nature, they are clever, vociferous, and exceptionally articulate. They are the policymakers behind the scenes in government or the writers of articles of opinion in intellectual magazines and other media of communication.
Characterologically this liberalism represents a misfired solution to the problem of guilt and anxiety: the anxiety gets bound up in political attitudes and ties, fixed to a specific and characteristic ideology.[snip] Behind [the liberal's] guilt lies the unresolved Oedipal conflict with the father, whom he fears. In his secret rebellion against the father [the liberal] identifies with the underdog. An extreme form of this is his sympathetic indulgence of the criminal with whom he identifies through guilt. This indulgence of the criminal the [modern] liberal calls his "enlightened" or "modern" attitude of "understanding" the criminal. Punishing the criminal activates his own guilt and interferes with his ability to suppress criminality and juvenile delinquency. The criminal, the delinquent, and the law-abiding citizen all become "equal."
There is something so sick about this that I delve right away into another Man in the Trap chapter available online, "The Masochistic Character (Phallic Exhibition Given Up for Masochistic Behavior)." Alas, it's just about the normal sickos, with their penis and anus and mother and father. But I need, we all need, to understand more about the sicker ones: the kind who destroy us all in the name of their psychosis.
It's Perry, not Pogo
One of the New York Times' high priests of the editorial page, Bob Herbert, had a piece on August 14 entitled "100,000 Gone Since 2001" (behind a wall). It started on the right note:
It has been almost six years since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, when the nation’s consciousness of terror was yanked to new heights. In those six years, nearly 100,000 people — an incredible number — have been murdered in the United States.
Herbert then goes into the horrendous crime problems of cities like Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Baltimore. And then he blames the crime wave on the war on terrorism, Republicans, and guns. This is so obstreperously blind that only a liberal could have conceived it. This is masturbation while suffocating. Indeed, Mr. Herbert's newspaper once carried the headline: "Number in Prison Grows Despite Crime Reduction."
Walt Kelly, the creator of the Pogo cartoon strip, coined the aphorism, "We have met the enemy and he is us." But Kelly was a notorious liberal. He subverted the meaning of the originator of this sentence, U.S. Navy Commodore Oliver Perry, who in a message sent in 1813 to General William Harrison stated, "We have met the enemy, and they are ours."
Half of us, the liberal half, have lost their minds. Unfortunately, that includes almost the entire elite that governs us, educates us, and puts content in our brains after we are grown up.
Liberalism maintains that we must avoid negative generalizations about any group, that to make such generalizations is an act of bigotry, and that we are a "creedal" nation in which ancestral genes, national origin, culture and values don't matter, and if they did matter, there is no difference among them anyway.
Illegal aliens are not among those who have lost their minds. They are the most rational ones.

In the United States of I've Got Mine, patricians who loved their Mexican nanny or the family's black chauffeur feel that that is a sufficient basis for making policy that binds the rest of us. But the rest of us don't live in "family compounds," or fortified 5th Ave. penthouses. We don't go shopping by helicopter, and when we drive through a black or brown neighborhood, it's not in a convoy of black Yukons.
Where we live, in our brand-new-and-already-falling-apart subdivision houses, the crappy Made-in-China window frame in our daughter's bedroom can be pried loose by a roving Mexican bandido in a matter of 10 seconds. In the suburban parts where we live, we are the Pac-Man zapped by juiced Latinos driving their first-ever cars, without a license. And in the urban parts where we walk, the soft steps behind us are not the security detail, but a couple of black teen recidivists in $150 sneakers, preparing to pounce.
For us, statistics spell the odds of national and personal survival. For the oligarchs, they are abstract numbers disconnected from cause and consequence: something to be kneaded and massaged until the inconvenient truth is dissolved, so that the right financial donors may realize the resulting profits.
It's our country, and it's being pulled out from under our feet.

He cites the fate of a college student who asked a mounted policeman if he knew his horse was gay. This got him a night in the pokey. At the same, the authorities were failing to respond to violent crime. This syndrome is called "The Tolerance Über Alles Principle". Couple this with the outlawing of personal protection firearms, and you have anarchy, which is the Left’s goal.

This is a shocking story and true as far as it goes. There is no question that uncontrolled illegal immigration is changing society. I would like to ad the proviso that immigration has always had this dark side and that there is a positive side. As a teacher I have known far more decent immigrant Hispanic kids than rotten ones. And of course like a missionary among the barbarians in the 5th century AD I must carry on no matter what for the sake of civilization.
But I will ad a proviso to this. In my experience the best and most acculturated students ARE FEMALE (by a four or five to one ratio) and most chologangbangers are male. With even a small percentage of Hispanic-Mexican gangsters etc. there is bound to be a strong growth in criminality.
I am aware that statistics that show that drop ups make less money have no effect on such types. They sneer and say things like “I ‘ll rip off what I like” or “I will smoke ‘em” or “shoot ‘em in the back”.
I have lived in Southern California for almost 20 years and have gotten to know many hundreds of Latino and Immigrant youth. Some of my students have probation officers. Some no longer can speak Spanish and refuse to learn saying ‘they know English” (“My bad –they say). But what they speak is a low-class semi-black ghetto dialect and they are semi-literate. School is just a launching point for crime (chiefly theft, intimidation and petty theft) and selling drugs.
I am a man who ‘gangs warily’; last year I noticed that someone had taken the pole from the back window in my portable classroom. The doors of the portable classroom are steel and relatively difficult to break into but the windows are the vulnerable point. At that time they were not alarmed (the main building was but they are today). So every day I made sure the pole was securely in place. My classroom was not broken into. But several others were and in those THAT WERE NOT it was discovered that the wooden poles to keep the windows shut had been REMOVED. To me –I reported this fact to the Dean and campus police this was evidence of an inside job.
The civilization that can’t defend itself is doomed.
I attended a Teacher-Ed training class the other day and the theme was STOP THE VIOLENCE. One of the cardinal rules was NEVER HIT ANYONE AND NEVER TOUCH ANYONE. Students were told not to defend themselves physically but to ‘document ‘ and call the appropriate authorities. My comment –not well taken- was this was the behavior of the students at Virginia Tech and so they were like lambs at the slaughter. I told them students should be taught civility and good manners and be told to avoid fighting WHENEVER POSSIBLE but that is was foolish to say a student should NEVER HIT ANYONE. “One should never seek a fight NOR SHUN A FIGHT”. If a student –or teacher – is attacked physically IT IS THAT PERSON’S RIGHT to fight back. It is the fundamental right of self-defense. To teach anything else is, in my view, idiocy. And all I can say it THANK GOD FOR THE US MARINE CORPS. It is one institution in America that has not gone completely soft and PC. What we need now is MORE JNROTC (and JROTC) classes in high schools and more JNROTC and ROTC in the colleges. We are going to need ‘em. “Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition” ; we are going to need plenty of both if we are to survive as a society and win the war on Islamofascism AND gangsterism.
I have nothing against immigrants. I have nothing against Latin-Americans. I rather like both.
But I hate and I fear cholo-gangsterss. They are no joke. They are a rising threat. To immigrants and to Americans.
Rep Tancredo has no chance to be president. I don’t agree with his policies by and large BUT I recognize his is a patriot who is trying to identify and talk about an issue that is for many Americans MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE WAR ON TERROR: Illegal immigrants and the growing wave of anarchy and violence that threatens the tranquility, lives and property of countless ordinary Americans.
I agree with the writer that wealthy elites like Bush , Clinton , Linda Chavez have lost touch with the situation that ordinary Americans have to face –and not just in border towns- but all over the USA.

Great article, but it brought forth an unpleasant memory.
Once while waiting in line at a local sandwich shop in a predominantly white area, a black girl of about 9 or 10 raced in and up to the counter ahead of everyone and asked for an "a cup to get some water."
She used it at the self-serve fountain to get ice and soda. The clerk looked annoyed, as did several white patrons who exhanged glances. The clerk told the girl it was for ice only but the girl did not stop. The girl bolted out the door with her hijacked soda.
Within 30 seconds, a black woman with four or five other black children entered, moving ahead of everyone waiting and asked for water cups for all the children.
The white clerk looked at a white co-worker, who said nothing and looked away. The woman was handed a stack of cups, telling the apparent mother of the children the cups are free but for ice and water only. The woman took the cups and distributed them to the children, who swarmed to the fountain machine, hands and waxed paper cups flying amidst the grinding of the ice dispenser and the "wooshing" sound of the soda dispensers, as all sorts of flavors shot out.
The clerk tried to mutter a protest but nothing came out. The white store patrons watched with disbelief. The mother told the children to get water only, but it appeared to be for everyone's benefit but the children's.
All the while, the mother jabbered and urged the children to hurry. She glanced at some of us, clearly acknowledging the wrong. Her answer to us was that she was doing her best to make this quick.
As the children finished filling their cups and began heading toward the door, the girl who had enetered the store by herself earlier, was last to leave, quickly topping off her drink before dashing out.
Everyone in the restaurant was silent. We exchanged glances, fumbled with money, looked at our feet, the menu on the wall. We scrutinized most everything around us we could. Everything but what had just happened.

It's out great luck, if we seize it, that GB and the rest of Western Europe are way ahead of us on the voluntary approach to the precipice. If we only draw and apply the right lessons in time – and we haven't got much, maybe 4-7 years – the U.S. may still save itself, and thus Western Civilization will be saved.

My comment on yours is that immigration has never, not even approximately, had a side as dark as it has now. We all know why a paddy wagon was so called, and yes, Sicilians have caused us a lot of trouble, and Polish or Ukrainian peasants were not exactly the flowers of Western culture. But all these groups were culturally much closer to then-mainstream American culture than meso-American Mestizos are now. They had a mean-IQ higher by about 12 pts. than the LatAm immigrants have, and thus embodied the potential of social mobility that's foreclosed with respect to the majority of the current immigrants. Also, there was an ocean separating between their homeland and their new land, and their homelands did not have territorial claims on their new land. And the surrounding ethos was assimilationist, whereas now it's centrifugal and separationist. And I won't even get started on our annual 6-figure influx of Yemeni or Somali Bantu shepherds, Hmong and Lao tribesmen etc. We have gone stark, raving mad, and we will pay the price.
Where I agree with you is, first, that there are more decent Latinos than rotten ones. And that education and acculturation are our only proper way of dealing with those who are law-abiding U.S. citizens. But we have to close that border for good, and be as merciless in squashing the dangerous criminals as we should be merciful with those legally here who are ignorant but decent and industrious.

Maybe these kids won't grow up to be criminals, just idle chiselers feeding at the public trough. Still, the problem remains that the black community has largely rejected white America's values and worldview, but white America has adopted quite a few black cultural values, and not the socially useful ones. I blame us, not them.

My comment was meant to be more about the nature of white guilt and fear of being viewed as a racists. I have no idea how those children turned out. But I do know how I, and I suspect several others present, felt being unwilling or "unqualified" to prevent an injustice (minor as it was).
I blame us, too. In a lot of ways, I believe reparations are paid daily in a most perverse and unhealthy way.

While I can’t offer statistics, there is anecdotal evidence I can offer garnered from a childhood growing up as a white kid in Detroit’s inner city ghetto. There are practical reasons why ghetto kids join gangs and commit crimes and it has nothing to do with pseudo-scientific Freudian nonsense, which any intelligent person has many valid reasons to reject.
First and foremost, most whites, some Asian and some black Americans have constructed an “idealized” black man that never existed in my ghetto neighborhood. And, I suspect, that Latinos from Central and South America have become the new black man or “idealized” Latino continuing this sociological pattern of thought embraced by liberals within our academic, government and media establishments. The white guilt that built the mythical black American was born out of the civil rights movement, but became embedded, from that point on, as a cultural pattern of thought and teachings passed down to succeeding generations.
From my viewpoint, there was nothing mysterious or unusually noble about the blacks in my neighborhood. Ignorance, as opposed to stupidity, was widespread and on a scale that most suburban whites never fully comprehended. Imagine that you are confined to your ghetto world because you can’t read – and not in the conventional sense that you are completely illiterate, but rather because you have no comprehension of what the words mean in relation to the greater society.
Assume, for a moment, you can’t understand a transportation map and aren’t sure how to decipher bus lines, transfer points and which buses to take – effectively you’re confined to your ghetto world by your own ignorance. You don’t go into the suburbs where the jobs are because you’re afraid you can’t get back or might get lost – although, it’s somehow comforting to hear you needn’t bother because the white “racists” won’t hire you anyway. Discrimination by the white world justifies your continuing ignorance, you’re not stupid or inferior, but there’s no point in even trying.
Imagine you don’t understand how the government, the law, the stock market, the economy, the technical infrastructure, etc. works. These things are as alien and as unfathomable as string theory or the biochemistry of DNA. In essence, you’re ignorant and adrift in a highly sophisticated, technological society and ignorance breeds fear and frustration which in turn breeds anger. There isn’t room here to paint a complete picture of ghetto society, but multi-generational ignorance kept blacks in the ghetto far more than racism ever did.
Even paranoids have real enemies and ghetto blacks from the 60s’ were victims of both an individual and institutional paranoia. Besides the white cops, other whites in the Detroit area really do hate you and would like to harm you. Detroit was long a magnet for blue collar folks from every part of the country and world. Besides blacks from the Deep South who came north looking for work in the auto plants, there were also white hillbillies from Kentucky and Tennessee who came for the same reasons, but who retained their deep prejudice toward blacks.
With the 1960’s New Enlightenment, blacks were depicted in the greater society as misunderstood, alienated, oppressed, disadvantaged folks deserving of compassion and support. On the other hand, white hillbillies remained merely primitive, sister-marrying, hillbillies. Though both groups had a cultural history of poverty and ignorance, many southern bred whites resented the sympathy given blacks (and not themselves) and were certainly in no mind to tolerate them.
As an illustrative anecdote, the 1967 race riots in Detroit resulted in many grocery stores being either closed or completely looted. Ghetto blacks were forced to leave their inner-city sanctuaries in search of food stores in the suburbs. Two suburbs the blacks carefully avoided were jokingly referred to as Hazeltucky and Madison Hills (Hazel Park and Madison Heights) by locals – the home of a high proportion of white hillbillies. There was a chance that the media hysteria generated by the riots might have resulted in harm to blacks had they strayed into these enclaves, although long standing black fears of southern whites probably had more to do with their avoidance.
Blue collar white males in Detroit were a completely different breed of cat from white liberals on Manhattan’s upper west side and black males had reason to fear them, although the fear was greatly exaggerated by their own ignorance. However, southern whites weren’t the only enemy, the sons of immigrant Poles, Chaldeans, Hungarians, etc. were just as intolerant and prone to violence. Gangs primarily afford economic support and physical protection from the greater society and the psychological aspects of gang membership have been ridiculously distorted by white, mostly female, doctoral candidates in psychology.
Coming from a ghetto culture, it doesn’t take a lot of brains or courage to attack and murder someone when surrounded by your buddies in the gang; I witnessed plenty of violence and did some
myself in self-defense. In fact, it wasn’t until I moved into the greater white society of business and the suburbs that I realized what an intensely violent culture exists within the ghetto, I had taken the violence as both normal and natural to every society.
With white flight, the supply of victims dried up and forced criminals and gangs to forage within the suburbs and public places where their more compliant victims congregate. Remember that the highly violent ghetto society works both ways, criminals can also fear for their lives from their so-called innocent victims within the ghetto. My family had been burglarized so many times we packed our cheap 19” black and white television into the car trunk whenever we went shopping to keep it from being stolen. And, had I or my brothers caught a house breaker in the act, the violence would have been immediate and without civilized rules.
So, it’s not surprising the predators stalk the easier prey and grow in viciousness if nothing is done to diminish their numbers. However, it’s important to remember how ignorant and frightened these gangs and gang members really are. When the U. S. Army was unleashed on Detroit during the riots, the snipers and looters made themselves scarce – the Army airborne troops were fully armed and inclined to shoot first – something the cops and the Michigan National Guard had been reluctant to do.
I suspect that we are building to a cultural crisis as the author suggests. However, the outcome isn’t in doubt in my mind. The greater society will arm itself and strike back when goaded beyond endurance. In many areas of the country, concealed carry permits and self defense rights are a hot issue. And with today’s weapons it doesn’t take much skill to inflict extensive, even lethal damage. We shouldn’t over-estimate the influence of the liberal establishment; there remains a numerically, and more importantly, a morally superior core of Americans who can and will respond violently to attacks on their family or their homes. In essence, that’s what these gangs really fear – both as a response or even worse, pre-emptively. But, we’re going to have to pay a blood sacrifice before we fully realize it.

1. This article in no place suggests that gang membership has anything to do with Freud or with any other complicated psychological theories. It does suggest that white liberalism is so suicidal and irrational that such theories appear, at least to this author, as the most viable explanation.
2. I am not a "Freudian," and as a practitioner of Zen I am probably an anti-Freudian. I don't know any really smart writer versed in Freudian theory who considers it "scientific," so by calling it "pseudo-scientific" you are not gaining much.
3. "Any intelligent person" is not the kind of construct that intelligent people usually use, particularly in association with terms like "Freudian nonsense." Freud himself may have been one of the 100 most intelligent people who ever lived.
4. Is there nonsense in Freud? Of course; it all depends how selectively you use his ideas and theories. They are by no means universal explainers of human conduct and motivation. In my opinion, the psychiatrist Ellsworth Baker, whom I quoted, applies them aptly and brilliantly to analyze white liberal elites. Had he used Freud to explain black gangsta in Detroit, I'd have called it worse than "nonsense."

This is an interesting question. What is if any the legacy of slavery, poverty and white racism? I think, if one is fair, one will admit that the legacy of class discrimmation, religious discrimination and racial discrimination has an impact on families, communities and individials. The human race -and I am a subscriber to the belief that there is only one human race- is in constant change, so, in my opinion only a flexible system of investigatin has any chance of discovering or uncovereing or sensing important truths about it.
Most history is about groups and their relations with other groups.
For reasons historical and sociological the "African-Americans" are considered a group. But if the truth be told most so-called "African-Americans have strong European and Native-American roots. This confusion about identity is revealed in the constant change of accept nomenclature. Today our most recent history books avoid the world slave and say "enslaved Africans" almost exclusively.
African-Americans can also be called Blacks or as they were once called Negroes or "people of color" or Colored People. Some years ago I thought the N-word was obsolete but now I hear it more than at any time in my life; it is chiefly used by African-Americans. The other day I heard Barack Obama joking about being on CP (colored people time).
I think most historians study political relationships or political and social relationships in terms of POWER. The relationship of the English-speaking peoples in North America with the Indians ("Native Americans") and Black (Negroes; African-Americans) could be described essentialy those of the conqueror and conquered, overlord and subject; master and slave. Yet there was never a complete segregation of the races. There was a social and educational relationship. For this reason most people of African descent in the USA speak English. Most became Christian which is also evidence of cultural influence.
There have been many studies about families -some contradictory- but I think there is abundant evidence that African-American families are weak and chaotic as compared to other groups with a high rate of illegitmacy. Exactly why this is must remain a mystery but I believe there is a relationship to ancient folk patterns from Africa such as polygamy, the realtively mother centered family of the slave family with its tendency towards having children of anonymous and multiple fathers whose only role in raising the children was to impregnate the mother. Some of these women would have been slave-mistresses (viz Sally Hemmings) and others would have been raped but still others would have had children from Black males of the community. But from earliest days the tradition of a woman being shared with numerous men and the marriage bond not being very strong would have been established. Strong black males may exist but the Materfamilias seems to be the rule rather than the exception in black families. I have known many Chinese families -many were Chinese Christians- and they were very distinct from other ethnic groups particularly Blacks in that the usually had a strong extended family and a close family with grandparents and aunts and uncles. The Chinese like the Japanese also had a strong educational heritage that led them to work hard and value education. One traditional saying was "Knowledge shall be sought throughout the world" and "one should never tire to teach and never tire to study."
I have been a teacher for many years and I have found the highest percentage of good students among these groups:
1) Jews
2) Japanese
3) Chinese
4) Koreans
5) Scottish educated people (as opposed to Southern Crackers of Scotch-Irish descent)
6) females of all kinds outnumber males as diligent students
I have had good students of all races; ONE of the best Spanish students I ever had was Black law enforcement officer but he was really the ONLY OUTSTANDING BLACK STUDENT I EVER HAD IN MORE THAN 20 years of teaching in any subject area. Most African-Americans could be divided into two groups
1) mediocre but reasonably diligent students
2) ghastly lazy and resentful students who dropped out as soon as possible
The good Black students I have known had these characteristics in common
1) they had an intact family (mother and father at home)
2) they came from a religious family (chiefly Christian); this seemed to help overcome the difficulty of being in a single parent household
3) they often had one White parent and at least one set of White grandparants; this is the case of Barrack Obama by the way.
Hispanic students and their successful charateristics were simliar to those of successful Black Americans.
So we are back to the orginal question. Is there a "legacy of slavery"?
I think there is evidence that Black families are fragile, that then tend to be poorer and less well-educated than the average American.
Some of this MUST be due to the legacy of slavery directly or indirectly (via racism and poverty) but not all. Some of it also must be due to the dependency lifestyle encouraged by the Great Society. I say this because the illegitmacy rate of of White Americans is as high today as it was for Black Americans in 1965 (about 25%). I am sure it is much higher among poor Whites. This breakup of families among Whites has nothing DIRECTLY to do with slavery but must have to do with other factors such as Feminism, Hedonism, the decline of Religion AND the BOLD STATE programs which make poor people servile and "married" (if you can call it that) to the State.
As for Black Slavery and the legacy of slavery, SOMETHING must remain but today the continued pathology of Black families must be also due to other causes as well. My ancestors were peons , sefts and cannon fodder for the British Empire and this is PART of my heritage. But we have overcome this difficult past by
1) emigration to America
2) hard work and sacrifice including the virtue of thrift
3) through education.
Through education and hard work one can survive many things -including wealth. There is no shame to being poor or ignorant per se; the real shame is not doing something to improve one's situation as best as one can under the circumstances.
