citizen543,

As a libertarian, why do you feel that religious expression and freedom of association are frightening or saddening? As a libertarian, why do you feel that the government should mandate marriage (at all, for anyone, heterosexual or otherwise)? I think you accidentally confused "libertarian" with a different "l" word, "liberal". Don't be embarrassed, happens all the time.

You know what, Jean? It's that slickness and the MSM that *will* do so. Even when he states a lie, or makes a mistake, or an out-and-out f-up, they will cover for him. And regrettably, most of our fellow citizens are not smart enough to pick up on it.

Talk about a "Cult of Personality." Stalin would have been proud...

Obama is riding a tidal wave of popularity, and if he doesn't do anything to mess it up, he can surf right into a second term and imprint the liberal illuminati on America's history forever, plus leave a legacy of amnesty. I'm thinking two terms until we get rid of this guy--he's just that good, and the media is in his pocket.

I am already somewhere south. Things are going to get much worse over the next 4 years. Begin by developing a security plan for you and your family which covers living, protection of property and assets, and long term food supply. Could be a good time to adapt to the Mormon concept of having a year of food on hand. By the way the protection of property could be a difficult concept to face for anyone without military training.

As a libertarian, the amnesty of Hispanic voters is lose-lose for me. They adore Obama's economic plans, while voting strongly with their superstitious Christian socially conservative beliefs. Don't be fooled that the Mormons passed Proposition 8 in California, or that Floridians were asserting their traditional values in amending their constitution against gay marriage: the reason in both cases was the mobilization of Hispanic voters for Barack Obama. They, with their frightening rate of religious adherence, will always vote against gay marriage.

That being said, I think the government shouldn't be so strict over who can live here and who cant, after all, my ancestors marched right in and set up shop on the lands of others. It just makes me sad, because the more influence socially conservative religious groups have over American politics, the less American America becomes.

'Be good, or Nappy will get you.'
Also, witness the reverence for FDR and the vilification of Hoover. And in the case of Lincoln the refusal to believe he was a Republican, that he suspended habeas, closed down newspapers, and built prison camps. I think you are right and it will be a long time before the Bush name is cleared, if ever.

This is a very dire set of predictions, all of which probably will come true. There is one good thing to come from the Bush administration and potential supreme court looks at other country judicial decisions...Kosovo.

Relying on the Kosovo recognition by the USA and other governments creates a doctrine that secession of a state from a union is a perfectly acceptable process. It is possible that secession of states will be the only way to save the union and provide for the model of government envisioned by the founders rather than the socialist model we are evolving to via judicial activism (treason?).

Alternatively a constitutional convention could be called which would be interesting since state approvals are necessary for changes. Hmmm
