Powell's worst affliction, like his liberal brethren, is obvious; he has lost all semblance of critical thought.
Colin Powell is clearly impressed with his own importance. Tothat end, he's not that much different than any other entrenchedbureaucrat in Washington, D.C. Bureaucracy is DC's "smokestack", ofsorts and the firmly entrenched interests react with anger when anyonecome along with a mind to pare back government's overstepping of itsproper bounds. Powell, who calls himself a moderate, has attacked SarahPalin and Rush Limbaugh in recent weeks. Well, let me fill you in on alittle secret. There is no such thing as a moderate in DC. Powell's adyed-in-the-wool liberal and he proved it by jamming his thumb into thecollective eye of conservatives everywhere and voted for Barack Obama.
Powell harshly criticized conservatives whom he claims have attemptedto use "polarization for political gain." Sarah Palin, says Powell, wasguilty of this during the campaign when she repeatedly talked of her"small town values." Of Limbaugh, the retired General opined that Rushappeals "our lesser instincts rather than our better instincts." Powellis pro-choice, Palin and Limbaugh are not. That sticks in his craw, too. Powell believes in pandering to minorities with an "outreach" thatis based on expanding government entitlement programs and massivelyincreased social spending. In the minds of liberals, this is theequivalent of job security. The more dependence on government largessthey can foster, then the more government will need to be guided by"those who truly care."
What utter balderdash! Formore than fifty years, the liberal establishment in DC has told thenation's downtrodden in so many words, "you cannot make it on your own.You need us to micro-manage your lives." This is precisely why we havea permanent underclass in this country today and also why America isdead broke! The prevailing thinkers in DC are no longer merelysatisfied with throwing money at the poor in exchange for votes. Now,they feel they must rob the rest of us to bail out private enterprise. The rest of us are content with merely sitting idly by and putting upwith it. Things have gotten so bad and so one-sided that the onlyPresident in American history with an MBA now thinks like a"progressive." And someone tell me, please, what is so "progressive"about taxing the daylights out of someone and promising the world toeveryone else? Why Colin Powell and why now? What has Powell done inthe past that makes him the savior of the party; I mean besides feedinghis already swollen ego? Powell has never sought leadership of theRepublican Party in the past, nor does he currently. However, GeneralPowell takes particular delight in attempting to dictate terms of partymembership to those with whom he disagrees.
Powell'sworst affliction, like his liberal brethren, is obvious; he has lostall semblance of critical thought. Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin arethe least of his real worries. No one, not even General Powell, canname one piece of legislation written by either Palin or Limbaugh.Powell needs to sit down with members of the growing black conservativecommunity and let them get his mind right. He clearly pays no heed tothe likes of Drs. Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell, Reverends JesseLee Peterson, J.C. Watts and Wayne Perryman. He avoids Ward Connerly,Ken Blackwell, and oh-so many other brilliant black voices totallyignored by today's so-called "mainstream media." Powell is in for areal shock at just how conservative those of his fellow Americans, white or black, are today.
Powell is confused aboutwho exactly is out of step in the Republican Party. It's undeniablyhim! To General Powell, if you're embarrassed by the Sarah Palins, RushLimbaughs and rigid conservatives of this world, do us the favor ofjumping the fence to the other side and stay there! Don't destroy theonly conservative party in American politics by throwing your weightaround recklessly. Should you feel the "need to lead", avail yourselfof the constitutional process, just everyone else.

Mr. Quayle,
My sentiments exactly! Gen. Powell is a disgrace to real Conservatives. Unfortunately like you mentioned, everyone who is blind to the liberal main stream media thinks he’s Conservative. Fortunately, real Conservatives can see through his fake credentials.
Powell is sad. It’s tough to see an American hero make a complete fool out of himself.
