We The People

Someone is actually working on creating more than just a giant discussion group for Conservative action.

Back on December 14, 2008 I wrote a piece  on technology and the future of the Republican Party and Conservatism.  As I said then, "all the technology in the world is useless unless it is used correctly."  I stand by that pronouncement, particularly in the face of what I have seen on the social networking sites wherein several Republican/Conservative groups have taken root, and discussions have followed regarding certain of the issues facing members and the future of the Party.  Despite this, it appears that very little serious work has been done.  Discussion is great, but results follow from organized efforts, and this appears to be lacking. To make matters worse, there is the distinct possibility that the Republican Party is now less willing to take the party faithful as seriously as it should.  Recent events have shown us that following the Democrats into socialistic pursuits is more appealing to many Republican Party candidates and officials than returning to and rebuilding on the values represented by those who put pen to parchment on July 4, 1776.  It is certainly possible that the political parties have failed the people, and that the people must now do something about it. There is one person who is doing something, and the foundation of her efforts is somewhat new network, which can be found at We The People USA   The network is self-described as "Citizens dedicated to preserving a Republic form of government ruled by law and the concept that sovereignty resides in We The People."  But this is more than another social network.  Its Founder, Jean Kulig-Tucker, a successful business consultant plans to use a web based network to form an idea and strategy sharing system to organize members into a team that can have a significant impact on the future of conservative politics.  Among the projects she is building are individual state teams and eventually special issue groups.  However, before they are undertaken it is proposed that the founding members draft a "Re-Declaration of Independence."  What exactly is this document?  According to the Network's welcoming message, "This will be a document that lists what we expect from our Government and what our roles and responsibilities are as Citizens of these United States. We can then use this document to define the Mission, Vision and Values of the Coalition."

This type of activism is an extremely welcome phenomenon in today's political scene.  With too many people relying on the Party to get things done, we have found that they have taken us for granted, and no longer represent our interests.  With the right form of organization, and with people no only sharing information and ideas, but creating action plans to get things done and hold the party responsible, the slide away from Conservatism may well be halted and even reversed.  So far, the technology we are using has not produced what is needed in a significant way.  We the People USA may be a way to do so.  Readers who have an interest in joining into something that may well bring about real and meaningful results are encouraged to check out this network.    In politics, organization is everything.  If the Republican Party organization does not recognize what it needs to satisfy and mobilize its core members, than perhaps a sufficiently large, involved and influential organization can do the trick.  In any event, I like the idea of the Re-Declaration.  It is about time that someone got involved in  broad based action to promote the founding principles of this repulic.  Maybe it won't be too late.

In order for the U.S. to make an abrupt about face there must be a "rock bottom" moment for us as a country. I believe that are still believing that the laws of economics have been repealed. Sadly we will endure obama's programs with the same results that fdr had. This will take several years and I'm not sure that even then will we as a people will be willing to make the changes needed. Our manufacturing sector is the key for us to rebound. As a advocate of the Fair Tax it is clear to me that our manufacturing sector would be the place that international companies would want to be.What with zero corporate taxes we would by default be the tax haven for the world. If and when this message is presented to our work force they will overwhelmingly vote it in. This effort will take a communicator on the level of a Ronald Reagan or a bill clinton. He/she will appear one day, I just hope it isn't too late.

Herman Caine has also started a movement called the New Voice which attempts to rebuild without regard to party. Seems to me that the Republican Party died a rather undignified death.

    Cain's web site is: http://www.hermancain.com/hitm.asp
