Re: Different Visions

A good article, as far as it goes. First let's deal with John McCain. Republicans were so disillusioned with the last four years of the Bush administration that we allowed the MSM to pick the republican candidate. The MSM's proclamation of a new 'Maverick' leading the Republican Party; a person willing to 'listen' and one willing to 'work across the aisle'. The MSM picked the most malleable and compliant republican they could find and we let them. John McCain was a sacrificial lamb; picked by the liberal press, so to further prove to conservatives that; as Senator Chuck Schumer recently said "The days of the hard right which still believe in 'Traditional Values'; all that is over." He goes even further in finally articulating what 'bipartisanship' has always meant; "I think President Obama has a pretty smart strategy. He is going to talk bipartisanship to the American people. But realizes until the Republican grassroots pushes their people over, if that ever happens, we are not going get change in the House or Senate." One unspoken rule has always been that the definition of 'bipartisanship' is when republicans wake up and cross over; never the other way around.

The adherents of the liberal religion, and make no mistake, it IS a religion, have several motivations. You enumerate three possibilities; that they are either blind to the damage, believe in a mis-application of the ideology, or they plain just don't care. While not a complete outline of the liberal theology, they are as good a beginning point as any.

First; they are truly blind to the damage. A liberal's belief in their own superiority is beyond arrogance. Witness their most fundamental conviction: Man is superior. God must be scrubbed from the lexicon so the secular elevation of Man may become complete. They are not damaging society, but perfecting it. This is why the ends justify the means for liberals. Stuff ballot boxes, use the courts, find any parliamentary ploy within the House or the Senate. All these are but a necessary set of methods that must be utilized in order to move society to perfection. To paraphrase another well followed 'take no prisoners' religion; "There is only one Man, and Obama is his prophet." The ultimate achievement of Man is Government. Government is always benevolent, so 'damage' never enters the equation.

Second; the Church of Liberalism fervently believes in the mis-application of their ideology. One has only look to their own comments to realize that. Witness the comments of Keynesian economist Paul Krugman, who recently criticized the Obama Administration for not spending enough. How can this be possible? A year ago liberals were lamenting the destructive nature of the $500 billion deficit of the Bush Administration. Spending has been so prolific during the first 90 days of Obama's watch as to make one long for those helicon days when deficits were a mere half trillion dollars! The liberal mantra of "We just aren’t spending enough" is in full force. The statement "These programs will succeed once a 'proper' amount is 'invested'; is fixin' to be tested; in spades!

Third; they truly don’t care. The attitude is "We won!" Since Reagan's landslides in the 80's; liberalism has embarked on a journey of re-defining the language of political debate. Those elections clearly laid out the unacceptable nature of liberal political philosophy.

If words mean things, then liberals are more careful than ever in their choice of words. They have become masters of vocabulary. Finding the most innocuous or positive words to define their favored policies. Abortion becomes 'choice'; tax increases become 'investments', and under achievers become the blameless 'losers of life's lottery'.

Likewise; unfavorable policies and/or personalities are couched in the most malevolent, malicious verbiage possible. Tax cuts for people that actually pay taxes, budget cuts for any item other than defense, actually allowing the failure of individuals or companies that follow frivolous principles, or actually allowing the success of individuals or companies that follow sound principles; these are heresy! The conservative belief that "all men are equal" is stood on its head by the liberal belief that "all men are the same".

Liberals won an election, and have majorities in both houses. They are no longer hiding behind malleable definitions of policy, but rather, are announcing in detail how they intend to consign capitalism, and by relation, conservatism as well to the 'ash heap of history'.

Just as I and my family have made a choice to refuse to participate in this recession; we similarly refuse to believe that this republic is doomed to extinction. Are we in for a rough ride? No doubt about it we are. Will republicans emerge from their collective funk and began to fight for their beliefs once again? I'm certain they will. True conservatism wins whenever it's tried. I believe that two years of this administration will prove to both politicians and citizens, that conservative principles are not dead; and that conservative principles are the cure for what ails us. Buyer's remorse is already stirring the country. Many on all sides are beginning to realize the mistake we've collectively made. We realize the cure for a narcissist is impotence. I have faith that the American People will render Barack Obama harmless.

fcous solely on life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness.

endowed by the creator has been dangerously misrepresented. by latching on to it as if it were the most potent aphrodisia, the so called right has forfeited the most powerful argument for a free republic. the Hannity's of the world display an appalling and saddening lack of mental acuity that would make the founders very sad, indeed they make this patriot very sad. constantly railing liberals for blindly following the 'messiah' or the 'great one' or the 'state' when at the sametime they rabidly claim that America lives and dies by the name of christianity. Of course when this is honestly intellectually analyzed, amounts to the same thing being professed by liberals, the only difference is how it is packaged. In their essence, both christianity and the statist philosophy are in reality in complete opposition to the founding principles of this country. The pinnacle of the respective philosophies is the sacrificial offering of oneself for the benefit of thy neighbor or worse the state. this not only is wrong but immoral and as it was intended, their influence should be nowhere near the constitution.
the framers discovered that the principles described as inalienable rights permanently and necessarily are perfect reciprocals, that is, they are the means and the end. that is, when underpinned by a certain and precise scope of judaeo christian values, peace has to follow free, productive and prosperous men. blind devotion to mystics and gods is precisley irrational and has no place in a truely moral and just society and culture that just fought and died for the individual rights of men. drawing solace and fulfillment from these mystically sources in one's own personal life surely is a productive measure for many of us, and certainly was for the founders too. however, in an oracle like fashion, these men completely understood the moral bedrock that secured the american experiment as world's most productive and just, by many orders of magnitude, was the pursuit and protection of the 'inalienable rights' not the infatuation with america being a christian nation, but of man being his own master, period.

In the proper context, Obama would be right, of course the context offered up by him is always grotesquely misrepresented. Aside from that, America is not a 'christian' nation. We are united and guided by our shared allegiance to the individual right of freedom, not by any allegiance to the creator, but by our existence as men and women in constant pursuit of our own rational self interest. That's it, no creator, no god, no man would dictate how freemen would exist, produce, innovate, and make peace.

If and when America can complete this experiment, desirable and most harmonious and glorious outcomes will be neccesary and predictive. Neither Obama nor the son of god himself has any right or rational pretense to be able to dictate how free men and women dispose of their precious resources.

Ayn Rand is 'the one' to follow, anything short of her wisdom, clairvoyance, boldness, diligence, and passion for completing the Revolution will not suffice. this war requires you to gold on your head, steel in your hand, the constitution on your sheild, and to take the cross off of your sleeve and put it in your heart.

Excellent article.

My two cents:

Liberation Motivation-'he flagrantly doesn't care'

The liberal leaders both prominent (Obama, B. Franks, Reid, Dodd...etc.) and behind the scenes ( Rahm Emanuel, Carville,...etc.) seek power through any means whether it be through control of money or the culture. They are in essence power hungry THUGS. It's important to use the word 'thugs' because it describes their character and tactics. Their motto is "the ends justify the means". The most recent example of this is the attempted destruction of Governor Palin.

The final nail in the USA coffin will be the appointment of at least two Supreme Court Justices with the help of the spineless, ignorant and incompetent Republicans.

I firmly believe this truly the beginning of the decline and fall of America. It cannot be reversed. I am sorry for our children and grandchildren.
It is a small consolation that the grandchildren will not know what was and could have been.

You are right on about recapturing our culture. The good thing about this travesty is that it has awakened the conservative spirit. Maybe we just didn't realize how pervasive the vision of the left would be. But now we know. Sometimes it is difficult to stand firm with our convictions because the left resorts to lies and vitriol in even the most simplistic events. But you are correct. We need to nurture our conservative ideals in just the ways that you describe. Continually draw our lines in the sand.
