Airplane lives! Based upon the Obamamessiah's actions he will only support funding for failed institutions therefore the $10,000 (an underestimate of actual spending) per student will be increased so that expectations can be lowered further leading to improved graduation rates since diplomas will be passed out on the first day of school therefore there will be no such thing as a drop out. Besides what is a few billion among friends?

Rumack: I won't deceive you, Mr. Striker. We're running out of time.
Ted Striker: Surely there must be something you can do.
Rumack: I'm doing everything I can... and stop calling me Shirley.

This issue is not important. The schools are teaching important things like maintaining a good self image and guaranteeing that one student does not have more pencils or notebook paper than others.

I trace this decline in the schools back to a movie The Blackboard Jungle (based on a novel of the same name by Evan Hunter) which chronicled what was happening in our government run schools. If anyone thinks this was recent the movie was released in 1955 and things have gone constantly downhill since that time.

In today's world there are few educational choices available. Johnny can't read because most of his classmates can neither read nor write English. Teachers have tenure and don't give a damn. Expectations have been set very low so that self esteem, racial, and cultural differences can all be accomodated. In today's education there is no bell shaped curve just a straight line at the bottom of the graph.

Welcome to mediocrity and the 4th world!

The educational bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of an expanding educational bureaucracy. This is called "economic stimulus". And it will save our economy from the corruption of capitalism. You may direct your thank-you letters to Chairman Obama.
