Re; The 'Borking' of Frank Ricci

Of course the democrats on the committee are going to tear Frank Ricci apart. They have to. Watching the hearing yesterday, I was constantly reminded just how disenguiniuos the democrats in general and Sonya Sotomayor specifically were.

It's not the "Wise Latina" remark that she made over and over during presentations during the last decade; although as Senator Graham pointed out had he ever made such a remark about how " A White Male due to the richness of his experience, would more often than not come to a better conclusion than a minority woman who did not posses such experience." It would have cost him his career.

Sonya's most dangerous practice is that of making law. She, and the democrats on the committee, keep pointing out the fact that trial judges and appellate judges follow precedent. Yet she can supposedly 'follow precedent' and declare that the Second Amendment only applies to federal law and states may actually make law that disarms its citizens! Never mind that over 200 years of 'legal precedent' exists that says the Bill of Rights, in its entirety, applies to all Citizens of the United States, no matter which state they reside in. Apparently, she has less respect for 'settled law' in such a case as this; as opposed to the 'settled law' of abortion rights.

The truth about this woman is this: While anyone may agree that trial judges and appellate judges follow precedent, Supreme Court Judges SET precedent! The world was a much different place the day before Roe vs. Wade was decided. It was a much different world the day after. The world was a different place the day before Ricci vs. New Haven, and a different place the day after.

Believe me when I say that once Sonya Sotomayor ascends to SCOTUS that the world; and America specifically, will be a much different place after two generations of the 'Sotomayor Effect' than it is today. We, depending on how many more appointments this administration makes, may not even recognize this country by then.

Right now it seems a race. The current administration is screwing up economic policy, foreign policy and domestic policy. Whichever is the largest of the screw ups will determine our future. One of these issues will overwhelm the others. I want to be prepared, so I'm ready to order my copy of 'Rosetta Stone'. I'm not certain yet whether I need that language software package in Chinese, Farsi, or Spanish.
