The racial dysfunction in this country is the single biggest stumbling block to the conservative movement gaining momentum in any group other than whites. It’s not because we haven’t reached out, it’s not because we’re evil or racist it’s not because our arguments don’t make sense it’s because we’re dealing with people who have been marinating in racial hatred their whole lives. We also have white liberals fanning the flames of racial division at every opportunity. Conservatives become frustrated because we think that freedom, limited government and self determination are universally appealing. What we fail to understand is that when we try to convey these values to a black person they view our argument through a racial prism. Not only do African Americans think that we live and breathe everyday to screw them over, they are even angrier that we’ve hidden our evil intentions in all this freedom talk. As other racial groups seek to attain the coveted minority status they by default have to distance themselves from what they perceive as the white man’s government, the white man’s education, and the white man’s ideas. It doesn’t bode well for this noble experiment in self government. I’m open for suggestions. I’m giving you a standing ovation on this article.
