Disaster Of The Senate

Exploiting the disfavored-gunshot victims, blacks, women, "gays," the poor-was Ted Kennedy's stock in trade. Throwing tax money at problems was a lot easier than crafting truly effective policy, much of which would have put the main burden on the private community.

The life, recently ended, of Edward Moore Kennedy is one long object lesson in how much one man can get away with and still be widely lauded in this country as a hero.

Emotionally traumatized early in life by his narcissistic parents, he in compensation developed a narcissism of his own that was legendary. He used his political skills and Kennedy name to ascend to senior senator and stay there, wreaking Leftist havoc, decimating his own family, and killing at least one person-possibly as many as eleven-in the process. (But more on that later.)

A garrulous extrovert, Kennedy played the Merry Irishman role to the hilt, joking, singing, and, tragically, drinking. The drink dulled his own pain but contributed to much destructive conduct. He philandered chronically and with lightning speed. He drove (quite possibly sober), according to one aide, like a maniac, fully expecting other cars to yield to him, which, in their prudence, they did. He famously drove off a bridge with a young woman he was on his way to bedding and left her trapped under the water to drown. He psychologically abused his first wife and children, destroying his first marriage and leaving lasting scars on his younger son, the present congressman from Rhode Island.

What I suspect, as well, is that in 2002 he contracted a couple of drifters (black, as it happens), one with a criminal history, to shoot up the public in Maryland and Virginia during the final weeks of his niece's Maryland gubernatorial run. He had the ruthlessness. He had the motive-to scare Marylanders away from supporting the Republican threat, playing on the difference between the two candidates regarding gun control. The victims, who were striking in their social and economic diversity, numbered ten, and a teenager was shot but survived. An October Surprise to be remembered. An investigation, at least, is called for.

A favorite Kennedy trope was "civil rights." Refusing, in keeping with the Left, to see that welfare-ism, Affirmative Action, and the like have been counterproductive for blacks as well as unjust for all, he pushed for egalitarian laws on behalf of so-called "sexual minorities"-that is, people with homosexual or transgender disorder. He had been informed that these disorders were preventable and treatable, but he didn't care. "Gays" were useful to the Left, and, so, useful to him.

Exploiting the disfavored-gunshot victims, blacks, women, "gays," the poor-was his stock in trade. Throwing tax money at problems was a lot easier than crafting truly effective policy, much of which would put the main burden on the private community.

He followed the path cut by his wealthy ambassador father, his brother the president, and his brother the civil rights icon. Jack and Bobby's deaths provided drama and elicited sympathy crucial to Ted's success. Ted could turn a phrase, and had many opportunities to do so. Toward the end, he passed "the torch" not to another Kennedy but to the nation's first serious black candidate for president.

Shamelot II finds President Obama serving re-warmed welfare-ism in the name of justice, compassion, and the ever-popular global competitiveness. And while Obama is great deal more seemly than Ted Kennedy was-and, I trust, less homicidal-he is well into doing the same kind of political damage to the nation.

The Left doesn't care what its politicians do, as long as they bring home the political bacon. We saw that with Kennedy, and we're seeing it with Obama. But incremental socialism has lost some of its allure. The nation is showing that it may not be taking the bait this time.

Ted Kennedy's life was a monument to shamelessness. The wisdom and character one has a right to expect in a U.S. senator was absent in him. Instead, he was childish, selfish, and clever. His political heir survives him.

This article is back??!! I’m no supporter of Ted Kennedy, but this article is full of wild speculation utterly devoid of proof about Kennedy hiring hitmen?! It is not worthy of serious consideration and should be removed from IC unless you want to bring down the website. Shame on you! It was removed from IC earlier this weekend and I’m dismayed to see it has returned.

With respect to your first paragraph, I would like to point out that you use a false premise, ie. that the goal is to solve or ease the problem. The goal first and foremost, sometime sole, is votes; secure voting blocks! Politicians find or invent problems for one reason, to make groups of people beholding to them and thus securing votes. The National Health Service in Britain employs 1.4 million people; the third largest employer in the world. Anyone who tries to get rid of the NHS has 1.4 million votes against him. Anyone who wants to put more money into the rathole will be considered.

Whenever Ms. Kass refers to homosexual behavior, she uses quotations around the word “gay” or says “homosexual disorder” in place of homosexuality. She believes that this behavior should not be referred to without some degree of incredulity or condemnation.
So this means, instead of writing a piece that explains why you believe a word has something wrong with it, and inviting discussion, another option is to just convey your refusal to recognize the word and your non-interest in anyone’s opinion of what you are doing.
I find this interesting, but not in a pleasant way.

The investigation will find that Ted slipped some antidepressants into John Allen Muhammed’s coffee.
I guess you can produce all the far-fetched theories you want, and no one bats an eye, unless they think you’re a tree-hugger.
