The ratio of marriageable women to marriageable men is dropping throughout the world due to abortion, infanticide and polygamy. We are an economic powerhouse precisely because we have created the perfect society of slaves – men and women who seek happiness by building walls of consumable goods around themselves. For many companies, married heterosexual adults with children are beginning to be a market segment that is simply not worth the trouble. Most conservatives are four-score behind Israel and against the Arabs, even though the Arabs made the same complaints seventy years ago about Ashkenazi Jews that many of today's American conservatives make now about Mexican Catholics. Many proponents of abortion argue that human life does not begin until implantation. According to the New York Times, asserting that Jesus is not God or making the claim that the entire Christian faith is false is “by no means sacrilegious;” but pointing out that Bill Clinton almost certainly raped at least one woman – well, that’s bomb-throwing. American immigration laws have had a longer run than bootlegging laws, but they are likely to end up on precisely the same scrap-heap of history, and for pretty much the same reasons. Too lazy to have children ourselves, we have created an unofficial "rent-a-womb" guest worker program. Without immigrants, we simply wouldn’t have the people we need to do the jobs we want done. If the court rules against Matt Dubay, it will embrace the curious position that a child has the right to receive money from a man who had nothing to do with her existence, but does not have the right to receive life from the woman who created her. If a child is not created at conception, then when does it come into existence? According to Muslim theology, faith and state are a single entity, a combined unity stronger than even medieval Christendom ever envisaged. And that’s the match to the fuel. For Muslims, as for the rest of us, we get the leaders and the culture we want. Just as the university professors of Galileo’s time used Scripture as a weapon to attack the scientist, so today’s scientists use Scripture to attack the philosopher/theologian. The idea that physical reality has an independent existence with laws that operate both upon it and upon me is necessarily a religious concept.
