As the 2010 elections draw near, Democrats are desperately casting about for a moniker with which to smear their opponents McCain is in an even worse position than Bennett. He has a lower lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union and supported several of the billion dollar TARP pork bailouts. The biggest contributors to his campaign were the banks that benefited from the bailouts.
The financial "reform" act under consideration in Congress is based on a mistaken understanding of risk and how people react when they think that they can't lose. Flush from their victory over the American public regarding health care. Democrats are now even more willing to ignore public opinion. The proof is the resurgence on Capital Hill for creating amnesty for as many as 13 million illegal aliens. The passage of the Obamacare legislation was nothing less than a declaration of war by the government against the American people. Or at least, by the legislative majority. Lately the left wing media pundits have been lamenting the inability of the Obama administration to enact policy. From health care to cap & trade; the administration's failure to move the nation quickly leftward has caused many to opine that the system is broken. After the dog and pony show put up by the President on February 25th he's now content to shove this progressive power grab down the collective throats of the American people, and damn the consequences to his party or the people. The President's announcement of a Health Care Summit with Republicans is undoubtedly an election year trap. Here's the road map on how to navigate this issue successfully. While understandable that Palin would support the man who put her on the national stage, other candidates who vouch for McCain's "conservative" credentials are doing a disservice to the movement. And it doesn't look like it's going to fly this time around. The groundswell of grassroots attitudes are emodied in the Tea Party movement, and [...] It isn't necessarily true that a legislative supermajority precludes presidential leadership. It may be a matter of political ideology or personality instead. These three victims of the putative government expense cutters have been with us for centuries. Getting rid of them means getting rid of the source: The size of government and the amount of money it controls. The 2010 election cycle presents a series of navigational hazards for incumbents and challengers of all political stripes. The government doesn't really care about airline security, which is why it should let the airlines take care of keeping terrorists off of their planes. The only way to solve America's debt problem is to stop spending and pay it off.
Senator Jud Gregg is sounding an alarm on American's financial future. It may already be too late, as Congress is hell bent on refusing to put out the fire. Instead it is running for the gasoline cans. Cash for Clunkers increases demand and related price for autos that otherwise would not be. Also, increased demand raises home prices above market value and governments are benefiting from the $8,000 credit because it is keeping home prices artificially high. And this punishes EVERY property owner first to subsidize the $8,000 credit and second with [...] If the various Czars exercise real power, shouldn't they be accountable to Congress. Exploiting the disfavored-gunshot victims, blacks, women, "gays," the poor-was Ted Kennedy's stock in trade. Throwing tax money at problems was a lot easier than crafting truly effective policy, much of which would have put the main burden on the private community. If Ted Kennedy's crusading was supposed to be a show of compassion, to the observant individual it failed miserably. His compassion was always at the expense of other people's money and never his own. Despite the best efforts of George W. Bush, Nancy Pelosi, and Dennis Hastert to obstruct the FBI's investigation, justice prevailed in the Jefferson case. Play dirty with the voters and eventually they will play dirty back. Whenever we peddle that lie called the race card, we contribute to the mass delusion and lessen the chances that the Truth will be known. The President and Congress need to focus on the economy rather than creating costly new entitlements. A conspiracy theory on what to do with a crisis if you are a power hungry liberal politician The executive branch has corrupted the legislative power through dramatic growth and usurped the people through the imposition of taxes and extreme debt. |
