America doesn't need to cut itself off from the world entirely, but it does need to get wise to the fact that the rest of the world views trade (correctly) as an arena of national [...] Americans are rightly concerned about Chinese competition; particularly in the technology sectors where outright piracy often seems to rule the day. On the other hand, one Chinese industry is quietly doing a bang-up job where America used to be the world's undisputed leader. [...] In a transaction that's sure to anger Americans — if the news media ever bothered to tell them — the People's Republic of China gets millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to help with their so-called green projects. The outrageous part of the story is that the U.S. is indebted to China for almost a trillion [...] If the Dalai Lama is a Marxist, then why is he concerned about what the Chinese are doing in Tibet? Marxism is responsible for the deaths of millions. [...] Americans have largely forgotten the threat of communism. The latest North Korean attacks are China's way of reminding the U.S. of its dilemma and dependence. [...] Will someone ask President Obama his views of the stoning law that was unanimously passed in the Indonesian province of Aceh in September 2009? [...] While America suffers from a surfeit of too much government spending and borrowing, the Chinese are forging ahead and doing so, ironically, with an economic system that has to be considered western in origin. [...] Conditions in Vietnam have improved some in the last ten years, but problems remain that may put the nation's economy at the mercy of foreign investors. [...] |
