The reality of Americans choosing to not work – or, at a minimum, choosing to work less – would seem to be a very intentional consequence of President Obama’s agenda. [...] Big media is paying attention to proposals for a new Gold Commission. This concept first was floated by Kentucky Senator Rand Paul and reported by The Weekly Standard. [...] Do you realize Social Security is unconstitutional? While conservatives are correct when they bemoan the left's trampling of the Constitution, the problem is that they don't have clean hands. [...] The newspaper industry has successfully lobbied for the past 10 years to preserve their archaic monopoly over the printing of public notices. They use deceptive technical arguments to sway conservative Republican legislators in Arizona and other states. It is well overdue to stop this corporate welfare that keeps liberal newspapers artificially alive longer, and move [...] The real problem with this unconstitutional provision is that some people really think that this is a FREE gift from Obama. Now here’s the rub, how much are the premiums going to go up. [...] "No one comes to the Father" but by stealing from the rich to buy more votes from the poor. [...] The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and the War on Drugs are only two examples on a huge list of programs that are not only incredibly costly, but ineffective. [...] Rather than selling off portions of the spectrum, the left wants to hand it out free. [...] Ron Paul has a fair claim to be our era’s Thomas Jefferson. [...] I’m fairly sympathetic with Santorum’s overall mentality on economics. It’s when I look at his detailed proposals that I start to get worried. [...] In light of the Susan B. Komen fiasco, it is time for Congress to stop funding Planned Parenthood. The bureaucrats and lawyers who regulate charities tend to be big-government statists who disrespect private property and other constitutional rights. [...] Last week the Obama Administration proudly proclaimed that in January we added 243,000 new jobs to the economy and the unemployment rate dropped to 8.3%. The facts however are quite different. [...] Seething, palpable hatred might decide summer's recall elections that foreshadow national elections come November. [...] Our Constitution was not designed to protect us from ourselves, nor should it. There is no mention of insurance in our Constitution because insurance is a free market tool to mitigate risks: life, auto, health, employment. [...] As long as China (and any other foreign government) keeps buying our debt, we are just fine and can keep living beyond our means. But at some point economics says that the "piper must be paid." [...] The truth of Gingrich’s claim to having stood, and effectively, shouting Stop athwart a history hurtling toward socialism is indisputable. [...] There never was a balanced budget going back to the Republican Revolution of 1994. [...] CEI's experts give their analysis of President Obama's speech last night. [...] Gingrich plus Paul rolled up an absolute majority of votes in South Carolina. These are the candidates actively campaigning on, or interested in, the gold standard. [...] Europe was looking for China to help fund its emergency financial bail out, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen now as China is headed towards bankruptcy too. [...] So if you complain about a do-nothing Congress, I ask, what is it exactly that you want them to "do," whom do you think they'll "do" it to, and what do you think will be done to you? [...] I come from Generation X, and we are in the same boat financially as the Occupiers, if not worse off since we now have families and mortgages. But the answer is not more big government. The naive young Occupiers should not indebt future generations as was done to our generations. [...] Take note of how many children today are supported by government. Since government pays for their pre-natal care, birth, medical insurance, food, etc., why wouldn't government be considered their mother? [...] Will religious social conservatives embrace Mitt Romney? Economics is absolutely a “moral issue." [...] Time to boot them out, not just the Democrats but the Republicans in Congress who have sold us out. [...] |
