Race, Bigotry, and Liberal Selective Indignation

rbrtbrdIn the 2000s, the Democratic Senate leader and former KKK Kleagle Robert Byrd (WV), dropped the n-word twice in national news interview. Never mind that the democratic party choose a former KKK Kleagle who admitted his interest in politics and leadership was stirred during his tenure with the Ku Klux Klan to lead their party. Byrd actually dropped the n word twice in a Fox News interview with Tony Snow. Robert Byrd had a long history of outright bigotry writing once in his younger days “rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.”

Let us not forget the numerous anti-Semitic remarks made by liberal “race leaders” Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev. Jesse Jackson. It was Rev. Al who once stated “if Jews want to get it on, tell them to pin their yarmulkes back and come over to my house.” Jessie Jackson referred to New York as “Hymietown” during his presidential run. Rev. Al also famously stated “white folks was in caves while we was building empires… We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it.”

Speaking of anti-Semitism, Hillary Clinton called Paul Fray (a political operative) “a fu**ing Jew bastard.” Hillary also once stated during a speech “I love this quote. It’s from Mahatma Gandhi. He ran a gas station down in St. Louis for a couple of years. Mr. Gandhi, do you still go to the gas station? A lot of wisdom comes out of that gas station.” How inclusive of liberals’ favorite potential 2016 presidential nominee.

Our current Democratic Vice President called Obama ““first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy” (as opposed to other black people who are not clean and bright and who are inarticulate?). Vice President Biden also stated on the campaign trail “you cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.” The current Democratic Senate leader Harry Reid stated he was impressed with Obama because Barack was “light skinned” and without “Negro dialect” unless Barack choose to have one (Negro dialect).

The founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, is still revered by liberals as a feminist hero. In April of this year, Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was presented with Planned Parenthood’s highest honor, the Margaret Sanger Award. Hillary Clinton was presented with the same award in 2009.

What liberals overlook is Margaret Sanger’s racist and bigoted past. Sanger was an unapologetic eugenicist who once wrote “we should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.” Sanger also wrote “birth control must lead ultimately to a cleaner race” and “the most merciful thing that the large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.”

Sanger has numerous similar quotes, too many to list in this essay. One of the vilest being “‘Eugenics … is the most adequate and thorough avenue to the solution of racial, political, and social problems.” Could one image the outrage if a female republican accepted an award from an organization whose founder was an outright racist who called for the extermination of the black race? MSNBC would be carrying the story non-stop for the next several years.

In a speech to students at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, FL just a few months ago, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, who was raised in Georgia in a time of intense racial tension, noted “the worst things that have been done to me, the worst things that have been said about me, [were] by northern liberal elites, not by the people of Savannah, Georgia.” Justice Thomas went on to surmise “my sadness is that we are probably today more race and difference-conscious that I was in the 1960s when I went to school…to my knowledge, I was the first black kid in Savannah, Georgia, to go to a white school. Rarely did the issue of race come up.”

Liberals, when and if they are called on any of the aforementioned quotes, simply state they are sorry and all is well. No more media coverage, no analysis of the Democratic Party’s racist past, no extensive, endless commentary from the liberal media on systemic racism within the Democratic Party. Liberals can make vile, racist statements and get a free pass because they are liberal, and liberals cannot possibly be racist per the liberal media’s conventional wisdom.

However, recently, a basketball owner in a private conversation tells his black girlfriend not to bring Magic Johnson to ballgames and take pics with blacks to post on Instagram and the liberal media goes nuts. This essay is not in defense of Donald Sterling. I do not know the man but from his public statements, he is not a very good person. However, I simply think racist leaders of the country should be called out before racist basketball owners. Priorities liberals.
