Stories of people who saw doves after loved ones died

Some really beautiful stories & some info….someday I hope to put the story of my brother's passing away back up, but unfortunately there is too much pain for some people at this time.

Mourning dove that mysteriously appeared with a nest outside my door the day my brother died. I had never seen a dove on my light fixture before, in fact I'd never noticed a dove around my house before since I have desert landscaping, and I'd lived in my home for almost 10 years. I found out my brother had died the morning of May 24, 2009. I walked outside my house that afternoon, and this dove with a brand-new nest had magically appeared. That cannot be a mere coincidence. It later hatched two babies, which eventually grew up and flew away. Now I hear doves cooing almost every day around my house, especially at night, and see them perched on my back fence often, usually two at a time. What is even more unusual about this is my brother used to always say "peace" to me, jokingly, sometimes emailing me over and over again nothing but "peace."

Others' stories

"Traditional funeral stories told that doves carried the souls of deceased people to heaven. Doves are often portrayed on graves to represent the eternal peace of someone who has departed this life….Releasing doves at a funeral symbolizes the spirit being lifted and carried home to heaven on the wings of a dove. "

"Mourning Dove: commonly thought of as a potential symbol of upcoming death to someone you know, but only if it is seen in unusual circumstances and not just eating at the bird feeder or sitting on a telephone line."

When my grandpa died, my mom prayed that if she could just see a dove, then she'd know that he went to heaven. And in the morning on my grandpa's porch, she saw a dove perched. And when my grandma died a few years later, she saw two doves on my grandpa's porch. I thought that was cool. The morning after I got this tattoo done (Sunday morning) my mom said she saw the first dove she's ever seen on our porch. (from http://www.myjellybean.com/chat/showthread.php?p=120751880)

After my dad died, I had a dream that he called me on the phone and said, "I just want you to know what a wonderful time I had with your mother." I know that he wanted me to pass the message along to her. After my mom died, I had a dream that she was sitting on the side of my bed, holding my hand and telling me everything was going to be o.k. She told me how happy she was that me and my brother were doing well. My wedding was a time where I could feel them both there. It was incredible. After both my father and mother died, I saw doves everywhere. In my back yard, when I'd leave for work in the morning….I definitely believe in messages being sent. Before  died, I never really dreamed about them.

My mother passed away almost 3 months ago, Since then my sister claims to have seen her apparition 3 times in one day. I have been seeing mourning doves in my driveway since her death and also white small butterflies. I'm not sure if it's coincidence or what?!? We just lost our dear brother in law. He was our son's godfather. He LOVED the wildlife at our home and was an avid outdoorsman. The morning he passed away, and before I knew of his passing. I ran outside to take a photo of the three coyotes running through our property for him to enjoy. He passed away at almost the exact time I took those photos and was thinking of him. Well….when we got home at 11:00pm from a long drive the day of his funeral, before I got out of the car, I saw a beautiful and bright shooting star. I told my husband that it must be from our brother in law. Well, then as I was emptying the car out, a dove swooped down from our roof very close to my head and went up into a tree and watched us unpack. Then….from inside our home I heard the loud sound of coyotes, I ran out to see them and it was the same three in the same place I had seen them when he died. I just replied by saying….thanks Dino….I needed that. AWESOME! (the last three stories are from http://www.signfromlovedone.com/)
